Lin Chu didn’t reply.

“Since Master Yan caught the bug at Miss Lin’s house, it will probably be most suitable if Miss Lin were to take care of Master Yan,” Zuo Qiu continued.

Lin Chu once again remained silent.

She felt that there was no doubt that Zuo Qiu was Yan Beicheng’s assistant. Both of them shared the same quality of being utterly shameless, so much so that Zuo Qiu would definitely think up more reasons if she declined the offer.

“I’ll pass you Master Yan’s address and phone number. It’s best you leave for his house now. Although, Master Yan probably wouldn’t have had breakfast yet,” Zuo Qiu replied.

“As his assistant, isn’t it your job to prepare breakfast for your boss in the morning?” Lin Chu complained.

“Hey, I live quite far away from Master Yan. He lives on the Eastside while I live on the Westside whilst the company’s northbound. It would be too big a round for me to make. If I were to arrive late for work because I was out delivering breakfast to Master Yan, I won’t qualify for my participation bonus. I’m an assistant, not a babysitter. Employees don’t care about the life and death of their bosses.” Zuo Qiu suddenly realized he might have accidentally expressed his hidden thoughts and quickly changed the topic.

“Oh no, there’s another huge load of files coming my way. Can’t talk anymore. I’m hanging up now. Remember to hurry over, Miss Lin! Otherwise, no one would realize if Master Yan were dead at home.”

He hung up immediately after this.

Lin Chu was speechless.

Zuo Qiu felt a little guilty hanging up the phone, and with shaky hands quickly sent a WeChat message to Yan Beicheng. “Master Yan, no matter what Miss Lin tells you, please remember that the sun and moon shall bear witness to my loyalty for you. No matter what I’ve said, it’s for your own good and for the completion of this mission. Don’t believe anything Miss Lin says about me! ┗(T﹏T)┛”

Yan Beicheng was sitting on his bed, wrapped up like a cocoon – his fever was killing him. Although it was not high, he still felt a little cold.

There was a picture in his hands with a date printed on it. There was no digital camera back then, so this was a picture taken with film.

The picture quality was so-so, but it was still in good condition. It had obviously been kept well. The young boy in the picture was sitting under a tree. A little girl about six to seven of age was sitting in his arms with her hair tied into pigtails. The young boy was wearing a Chinese tunic suit-styled school uniform while the little girl had on the orphanage’s official uniform. Both of them were smiling brightly. The little girl was smiling so happily that her eyes squinted into a line.

Yan Beicheng recalled that at the time, there were no smartphones with built-in cameras. Moreover, it was impossible to take selfies with film cameras. Thus, Yan Beicheng had used up all the film in the camera by taking tons of pictures before developing them and picking out the best picture.

He did not realize he was smiling at the camera when he suddenly heard the WeChat notification on his phone. He gripped the photo as he reached out from under the blanket and grabbed his phone.

He opened the message sent by Zuo Qiu and replied, “What terrible things have you said?”

After a while, Yan Beicheng sent another message, “Also, do you think your future Mrs. CEO is someone who would talk bad behind another’s back?”

Zuo Qiu was close to crying when he received the first message. When he received Yan Beicheng’s second message, he immediately kneeled down on the spot.
