The Prodigies War
chapter-1397

The black-robed man stiffened and found it hard to breathe. He was appalled.

He was a true King, but just a glance from the other party put him under a pressure so great that he didn’t dare to take a second look.

“Qi Can?” a voice rang in his ears.

The black-robed man was stunned. He knows me?

Whoosh!

The other party put away the treasure ship and descended from the sky, stopping right in front of him.

“It’s you!” The black-robed man’s pupils shrunk as he recognized the other party. For a moment, he was in a daze as flashbacks from his youth in Blood Kill Camp played in his mind.

“Sure enough, I wasn’t mistaken. Long time no see.”

The figure was none other than Lin Xun. He didn’t expect to see the black-robed man in this fallen city.

Back then, when Lin Xun had first entered Blood Kill Camp, he was assigned to the 39th Campground under Instructor Xiaoke.

It was also then that he had befriended Ning Meng, Shi Yu, Li Duxing, Ye Xiaoqi, Gong Ming, and Bai Lingxi.

Qi Can had also been a trainee at the 39th Campground at that time. However, they hadn’t had a good relationship as there had been constant competition and friction in the shadows.

After so many years, those small fights had long since become a memory.

“It’s really you…” Qi Can looked delighted. He too was no longer the teenager that he was back then. To be able to see Lin Xun again was something he found to be a happy occurrence.

“Why are you here?” asked Lin Xun as he swept his gaze over the group behind Qi Can. He immediately noticed from the unique aura about them that they all came from Blood Kill Camp.

“To kill monsters, of course,” replied Qi Can. Then, he introduced his group to Lin Xun. “These are the cadets who entered Blood Kill Camp three years ago. Compared to us back then, their aptitude and power are much stronger.”

Lin Xun was surprised. “You are serving in Blood Kill Camp nowadays?”

Qi Can nodded and turned to the students behind him with a smile. “Come, let me introduce you all. This is the renowned master of Mind Cleansing Peak, Lin Xun! But you all probably don’t know that back then, he was the one with the best test scores in Blood Kill Camp.”

Lin Xun!

The students were all shocked. Their eyes immediately lit up with reverence and fervor.

How could they not know of Lin Xun, the legendary figure who had been raising storms in the empire these days?

They just didn’t expect that their instructor was a friend of his!

It came as an absolute surprise as Qi Can had never once mentioned his relationship with Lin Xun, who was a celebrity in the whole empire, at all.

“Greetings, Senior.” They saluted in unison.

“Since we’ve just met, consider these small things as a gift from your senior.” Lin Xun smiled and waved his hand. A bottle of pills and a sealed jade box appeared in front of each student.

“This…” They all hesitantly looked at Qi Can.

Qi Can laughed, “What are you being so polite about? Accept them while they’re still available.”

The students immediately accepted Lin Xun’s gifts.

After a brief look, they all let out a gasp. Their hearts thumped violently, and their expressions were filled with excitement and surprise.

Be it the pills or the treasure in the box, they were all of immense value to the students!

“Thank you so much, Senior!” They all expressed their joy and gratitude toward Lin Xun.

Lin Xun smiled wryly. “Don’t call me senior, I’m not that old.”

Qi Can burst out laughing. “It has nothing to do with age, but status and strength. After all, you are now an old King monster that many cultivators can only look up to.”

The others also laughed. They suddenly all had this thought that the legendary Senior Lin was not as intimidating as rumored…

If one hadn’t seen it with their own eyes, then they wouldn’t have believed that he alone had flattened two high clans of Zuo and Qin.

“Come, let’s find a place to chat over wine,” suggested Lin Xun.

Qi Can hesitated, then shook his head. “Some other time.”

Lin Xun was stunned. He keenly noticed that Qi Can’s mood seemed a bit off and couldn’t help but ask, “Did you encounter any trouble?”

Qi Can was shocked by Lin Xun’s sharp sense. He hurriedly laughed, “Just a small matter.”

A student behind him couldn’t help but retort, “How is it a small matter? Instructor, now that Senior Lin is here with us, you really shouldn’t go alone. It’s too risky.”

The others also chimed in, “That’s right. The Blood Pheasant King has too many powerful beasts under his command. It’s too dangerous for you to go and fight them alone.”

A stout youth in black clothes even knelt to Lin Xun with an anxious expression. “Senior Lin, please help our instructor!”

Qi Can’s face instantly darkened. “When do I need you to intervene in my matters?! Get up!”

His shout silenced the students, but they still could hardly hide the worry in their expressions.

Seeing this, Lin Xun had a rough idea of what was going on. He frowned. “Qi Can, we are friends and comrades from Blood Kill Camp. But from the way you’re acting, I feel like you don’t consider me a friend anymore, do you?”

Many expressions fleeted across Qi Can’s face. In the end, he sighed, “It’s precisely because we are friends that I don’t want you to get involved in my trouble!”

Lin Xun raised his brows. “How big is it? The sky-piercing kind?”

Qi Can smiled bitterly. “Not that big.”

“Senior Lin, his parents, relatives, friends, and clansmen were all killed by those beasts! He’s going to exact revenge on the Blood Pheasant King!” The stout, black-robed youth couldn’t help but speak up, “As you can see, this city was breached. His clan lived here.”

Lin Xun instantly understood. He patted Qi Can’s shoulder. “This revenge must certainly be taken, but it must not be done in the heat of the moment.”

Taking a deep breath, Qi Can said, “The Blood Pheasant King is one of the ten big monster-beast Kings under the Black Bat King. If you go with me, the Black Bat King will definitely target you. From what I know, a bunch of monster-beast Kings are eyeing you for an opportunity to strike. How can I get you involved in this and make it worse?”

Hearing this, the students’ faces drastically changed.

They had also heard that one monster-beast King after another had taken a strong stance to kill Lin Xun. This had thrown the empire in chaos, and there hadn’t been a day of peace lately.

Qi Can’s worries moved Lin Xun, and it only made him even more determined to help this old friend.

“Do you know why I’m here?” asked Lin Xun with a smile, his eyes profound.

Qi Can was stunned. Then, he looked startled as if he had realized something. “Could it be that you are…?”

Lin Xun nodded.

……

Outside of Bloodtooth City was a long range of mountains. In the depths of the mountains, there was a divine and secluded canyon that was like a paradise on earth, a blessed land of the immortal.

At the moment, however, the canyon was filled with foul air as it had been occupied by countless ferocious monster-beasts.

“My king, we little ones are close to starving. When can we go out and find some prey?” asked a hideous monster-beast covered in brown scales with an expectant tone.

Its king, who was the Blood Pheasant King, was lying on a luxurious, soft couch.

“No more killing. The Black Bat King just ordered that we must be more restrained. From what I’ve heard, it’s to prepare all the forces to deal with a human named Lin Xun,” said the Blood Pheasant King lazily.

He was dressed luxuriously. His skin was pale while his lips were as red as blood and his eyes were a bizarre turquoise color, making him look demonic.

To his sides, two scantily clad, young human girls were kneeling as they massaged his legs and feet.

The two girls were both captured here. They were beautiful, but their expressions were numb and their eyes hollow.

“Emergency! My king! There are cultivators coming!” a piercing scream of fright suddenly echoed outside the canyon.

The Blood Pheasant King was dumbfounded, then couldn’t help but laugh, “There are still cultivators trying to seek death? How very strange. Go, go. Didn’t you say you were starving? Bring your subordinates to kill those idiots.”

“Yes!” The hideous monster-beast immediately received his order and left in exhilaration.

But before long, another scream echoed, “No! All dead, they’re all dead…”

Boom!

An earth-shattering explosion resounded over the cacophonous yelling. The huge canyon shook.

The Blood Pheasant King abruptly sat up from his couch with a cold snort, his face grim. “A bunch of trash!”

“A bunch of trash indeed,” a nonchalant voice suddenly rang out from above.

The Blood Pheasant King instantly looked up and saw a group of people floating in the distant sky. At the very front of the group was a handsome and ethereal young man.

“Die!” The Blood Pheasant King kicked out with a gloomy expression.

Bang!

The two beautiful human girls directly burst and died on the spot.

Seeing this, Lin Xun’s eyes flashed with an icy gleam. “You are the Blood Pheasant King?”

The Blood Pheasant King laughed savagely. “You know it’s me and yet you still ran straight here to your death. Some big guts you have, young man.”

“Let me kill him!” Qi Can suddenly stepped forward, his eyes bloodshot and his killing intent surging.

It was the Blood Pheasant King who had led his beast troops to attack Bloodtooth City, causing the tragic death of his clansmen and friends!

Boom!

Qi Can charged forward like a sharp killing bolt with a green spear in his hand.

“A small King who has not even crossed one longevity tribulation, running to his death…. Hahahaha.” The Blood Pheasant King threw his head back and laughed. However, his expression was cold and full of disdain.

He thrust out his palm.

A blood-colored palm print coalesced, exuding a seething murderous aura and horrifying power as it splintered even the air.

The Blood Pheasant King was confident that with his third longevity stage power, a casual palm strike was enough to slap the stupid human to death!
