The Prodigies War
chapter-1655

Boom!

The giant black ape shot through the air with its arms extending forward like two heavenly pillars.

The creature’s attack method was simple and crude – by simply swinging its hill-sized fist. The result was an old monster being knocked flying and bursting into a rain of blood and flesh in the air, destroyed in both physical form and spirit.

“Bah! Where did this Saint-King weakling get the guts to get involved in this kind of battle? What a f*cking eyesore!”

The giant ape spat repeatedly, its hideous face full of disdain.

Clang!

On another side, the broken, bloodstained bronze spear ripped the sky with a terrifying black light on its tip. Within the black light reflected a bizarre white face with a pair of bizarre scarlet eyes.

This spear had been the most mysterious and unfathomable being in the Mulberry Woodland. Although badly damaged, it possessed intelligence and a terrifying will power.

Bang!

It took but a brief moment for the spear to shatter the protective chest plate of an old monster and impale his chest. He shrieked miserably as the weapon raised him up high.

In other directions, the golden python, snow-white bird, and lightning sable were also erupting with monstrous might, each one more powerful and vicious than the other.

As a matter of fact, they didn’t take these old monsters who were stationed in the Great Emperor Pass seriously at all.

As early as a hundred thousand years ago in the ancient era, they had already been hibernating in the Mulberry Woodland, bent on seizing the chance to become an Emperor that the Ten Thousand Tribulation Great Emperor had left behind.

While many of the experts stationed in the Great Emperor Pass were quasi-Emperors, their depths and power paled into insignificance when compared to that of these horrifying living fossils.

Just like what the Thousand Feather Sword Flower had stated, the cultivators in the Great Emperor Pass were only a group of juniors to them at best.

Not to mention that not all of these old monsters were quasi-Emperors. Some of them were Saint-Kings, which made them all the more nugatory.

Rumble!

The whole field was in chaos as dao lights poured out like a stormy ocean, and the noises they made stirred like thunder from the nine heavens.

The sky and earth were trembling. The void was completely disorganized. All sorts of terrifying phenomena manifested one after another, with gods and demons roaring, saints weeping blood, stars and moons falling, and mountains and rivers collapsing into demise.

If something of this degree were to happen anywhere else, the land would have sunken, and the world would have perished!

After all, this was a battle of quasi-Emperors, a fight between a group of old monsters from the Great Emperor Pass and a group of terrifying beings from the Mulberry Woodland.

A battle like this was rarely seen even in the Great Emperor Pass!

“Noooo!”

“Damn it!”

“Attack them with all you have!”

Angry shouts and roars resounded through the sky. Every old monster of the Great Emperor Pass looked livid, and their faces were extremely unsightly.

They had thought that with Gu Liangqu on their side, they would be able to make Lin Xun bow and obediently hand over the Ice Snow Leaf, but who could have ever imagined that the situation would escalate to such gravity?

The fact that the single leaf had been sealing over a dozen terrifying beings was like a bolt from the blue that caught them completely off guard.

When they looked at Gu Liangqu, he was still fighting the red-clad woman. Not to mention displaying his power, just breaking away from her already seemed more than difficult!

He was the number one expert of the Great Emperor Pass who had been fighting on this Frontline Battlefield without having fallen once. The number of powerful enemies that had died at his hands couldn’t be counted.

But he was currently being tightly blocked by the red-clad woman!

However, it wasn’t because Gu Liangqu was weak. After all, the red-clad woman had killed Old Practitioner Qiu and the beasts he had brought with just one blow.

That Gu Liangqu was able to persist this long was already proof of his terrifying combat strength.

Unfortunately, he was the only one in his party who was at the peak of the quasi-Emperor stage. The other quasi-Emperors present were nowhere near his level.

“KILL!”

The black giant ape let out a roar that fragmented the void and caused the region to shake. Its ferocity was hair-raising as it charged across the field like a great demonic god.

The other beings were in the same state.

Under their onslaughts, three quasi-Emperors died violently and seven Saint-Kings were annihilated like grass in just a short time.

The atmosphere was bleak as the sky rained blood.

Even the fall of Saints could trigger the mourning of heaven and the phenomenon of a scarlet sky, let alone the death of quasi-Emperors.

High above the clouds, blood flowers drifted down and withered as they fell. Endless waves of mourning chants echoed like a final song before doom.

Lin Xun stood in the distance, his hair dancing and his eyes chilling, and his expression was unperturbed.

He didn’t have the ability to get involved in this kind of battle. He couldn’t even tell what kind of power those quasi-Emperors used.

The gap in strength was simply too great.

But none of that mattered. As long as he had the Ice Snow Leaf, Gu Liangqu would never be able to turn the tide even if he had three heads and six arms!

“As humans, you must bear the disastrous consequences of your own misdeeds. This is the punishment for your greed!”

Lin Xun was completely enraged this time. When one suffered great injustice, how could they be in the right mind to care about anything else?

Perhaps, this battle would cause many old monsters to die, and would undoubtedly result in a heavy loss for the Great Emperor Pass.

But Lin Xun no longer cared!

When their greed had driven them to attack him, and they had done so without the slightest hesitation, had they once thought about the consequences?

Had they, then, taken the big picture into consideration?

Could they wantonly oppress a junior just because they were stationed here and had war merits?

What a joke!

If it wasn’t for the sake of the big picture, how could he have held back until now?

If it wasn’t for this Frontline Battlefield, how could he have come to the Great Emperor Pass right after he had exited the Nine Domains Battlefield?

This Ice Snow Leaf was meant to be gifted to Mister Shen and left at the Great Emperor Pass.

Ridiculously, however, because of greed, these old things had forsaken their conscience and no longer cared about what was right and wrong!

Lin Xun was angry, and more than that, he was disappointed.

He was dedicated to serving the Ancient Wasteland Camp. While he couldn’t say that he was helping the whole world or offering his utmost service for it, at least he still had been contributing and doing what he could for the Ancient Wasteland Domain!

If not for this, how could he have rebuilt the City of Protection and spared no effort to conquer the other eight camps back in the Nine Domains Battlefield?

If not for this, how could he have unhesitatingly promised the golden cicada to bring the Ice Snow Leaf to this Great Emperor Pass?

But what had he gotten since coming here?

The distortion of truth, the wanton oppression, the killing in order to seize a treasure because of greed, without distinguishing between right and wrong!

This was the root cause of Lin Xun’s utter disappointment and rage.

As he had said, in terms of contributions, he alone had flattened the other eight camps and led the Ancient Wasteland Camp to a triumphant victory in the most recent Conflict of the Nine Domains!

What other great heroes in the long history of this world had been able to achieve this?

No one!

For in the past, the Ancient Wasteland Camp had always lost tragically, being suppressed, humiliated, and trampled on to the point they could no longer lift their heads!

Yet, a group of old monsters were using their contributions as an excuse to unreasonably slander and bully him…

Just how absurd, how ridiculous was this?

Boom!

The battle intensified with time. Blood mist filled the air, and killing intent shook the region.

Quasi-Emperor old monsters fell one after another, either torn apart, pierced through their hearts, having their spirits shattered, or having their heads ripped off.

It was tragic, bloody, and brutal.

It was blood-curdling to watch!

Shun Ji, Madam Mu, and Ling Xiaozi, and their party had all withdrawn from the battlefield. They found it impossible to bring themselves to help the terrifying beings deal with Gu Liangqu’s group.

However, when they saw their fellow cultivators, who they had fought alongside through thick and thin to fight off foreign enemies, fall one by one in front of their very eyes, their hands and feet grew cold. Their hearts were caught up in a tormenting struggle.

Could they blame Lin Xun for being too ruthless?

They could not!

Since the beginning, Lin Xun had always been the object of targeting and suppression. Otherwise, Shun Ji’s group wouldn’t have come here and helped him block those old monsters at first.

“The word greed is the heart demon of our generation, harming other people and ourselves!” lamented Ling Xiaozi.

“Little friend, can you show mercy?” Shun Ji couldn’t stand to watch any longer. The eyes of this rough and courageous quasi-Emperor were reddening at this moment, and his voice carried guilt and also a plea.

While such a request was unfair to Lin Xun, Shun Ji just really couldn’t watch it anymore.

Too heavy casualties would be a big blow to the Great Emperor Pass and would make them the laughing stock of the foreign domains!

“Little friend, this should be enough punishment for them,” said Madam Mu anxiously.

Except for Gu Liangqu who was still fighting fiercely with the red-clad woman, over half of the other old monsters had fallen while the rest were struggling at the brink of collapse.

Lin Xun fell silent. After some time, he took a deep breath and asked, “Seniors, do you think I’m wrong for doing this?”

Shun Ji, Madam Mu, and the others were stunned, and then quickly shook their heads. Their expressions were complicated, and none of them dared to look Lin Xun in the eyes.

Of course Lin Xun was not at fault!

From beginning to end, he had never done anything wrong, and had never done anything more than passively resist!

“They…really let me down.”

As Lin Xun said this, he gazed at the distant Gu Liangqu indifferently.

“I’m curious to know, if the enemies of the other eight domains come to offer them an opportunity to become Emperors, will these old monsters also choose to betray and defect out of greed? Would they bring themselves to destroy the Great Emperor Pass in order to become an Emperor?”

These words were stone cold and devastating!

The faces of Shun Ji’s group all faltered, and their hearts sank to the bottom.

Although it was only a hypothesis, who could laugh it off after witnessing the bloody scene today?

Yes, a single leaf could cause these old monsters to go crazy and go out of their way to target a junior.

If the foreign enemies could also offer such a fortune, could these old monsters…restrain their greed?

“However, for you all, I can give them a chance,” said Lin Xun as he raised the Ice Snow Leaf and gazed at the battlefield. “That’s enough, all of you come back.”

The terrifying beings were obviously not finished. They didn’t care how many quasi-Emperors they killed, and how serious of an impact it would impose on the Great Emperor Pass.

However, they didn’t dare to disobey Lin Xun’s words!

With a whoosh, the bloodstained bronze spear was the first to stop and swiftly sweep into the Ice Snow Leaf.

Following closely behind it, the golden python, the lightning sable, the snow-white bird, and the rest of the host returned one after another.

During this, they did not encounter any obstruction.

Because their opponents had long since been slaughtered to the point where their guts were about to burst!
