The Rise of Otaku
chapter-123

Luhua Primary School. It was time for the final exam again.

The exam wasn’t supposed to make students happy, but since a strange fellow named Brother Yu started using the amusement park as a lure, at least, some students were looking forward to the final exam.

Just like the summer vacation, dozens of students could enter the amusement park for free! Although others could still get in the park by spending a little money on tickets, whenever their parents saw those kids with visitor’s card, they would always say things like, “look at them, and look at you, why can you not get better scores in school?” It would only make those children felt very annoyed.

So since the winter vacation was coming soon, naturally, everyone was looking forward to the surprises, that Brother Yu was going to bring to them. Zhou Hao was one of the students, who have been preparing for this for a long time. Although for half a year, he was still that naughty, his attitude of learning was a lot of serious, and his performance was steadily rising.

Sure enough, the news of brother Yu’s recruitment came out soon.

This time, they were not recruiting visitors, but project experimenters. Apart from those who have good grades, those, who knew how to paint, sing, play musical instruments or had special skills in sports, would also be recruited. It was said that Brother Yu was going to take everyone to play a big game called “The Dragon’s Treasure”, which would definitely be fun.

The most important thing was that food and accommodation would be included. There would even be special people looking after them. They would also be sent home by special buses during the Spring Festival. The whole event would last about two weeks.

There were 100 places, and the competition would be fierce.

“The Dragon’s Treasure” role-playing game is a game, that will allow students to play the various occupations, that exist in different factions in the movie “The Dragon’s Treasure”. Children can choose to complete a variety of tasks alone or with teams. By completing the task, they will obtain certain points. Points can be exchanged for items in the gift store. Even if they don’t get the dragon’s treasure, they can still get some other prizes.

In order to make this game happen, Zhou Yu first needed to build a small town, called Fantasy City, where the immortal illusionist Grodo lived in the movie – The Dragon’s Treasure. Because it was impossible to build it quickly, so they set up various tents first, and then consider building the real ones later on.

Fantasy City should be a place full of joy, so it should be full of all kinds of games and events. In the animated movie “The Dragon’s Treasure”, there are many potential game projects, that can be considered to be realized in the real world to form a fantasy-themed gaming center. In the future, when Fantasy city is opened, visitors can obtain points in games, and then exchange the corresponding prizes in the end.

Of course, the two-week long project test wouldn’t be fun if it was only about playing these indoor games. Zhou Yu also wanted to design some large-scale competitions and events. Designing these would be very difficult, but Zhou Yu had a good cheat. It was the animation base.

As long as the target audience was chosen to be 6 to 12 years old, it could automatically produce a children’s version of “Liar Game”. Although not every game will be brilliant, as long as more episodes are produced, there will always be some eye-catching competitive games.

It was with this cheat, that Zhou Yu quickly chose several games that looked very good, and suitable for children to play, and it would not require much effort to make. He then let Zhou Fu arrange the scenes and props he needed.

In addition to games, there were some tasks that needed to be designed. Designing these tasks were relatively simple. Zhou Yu only needed to select a part of the plot of “The Dragon’s Treasure” to complete the design of the tasks. If he needed the game to be more complex, he could also mix the game with some confrontational events from the movie, so it would be more competitive.

After seeing the games and the various plot tasks that were designed by Zhou Yu, Zhou Fu had to admit that as long as it was within the scope of interest, boy Yu’s creativity and ability to act immediately would be very impressive, but if it was outside his interest, his laziness would be superhuman level, which was a pity for this talent.

One was responsible for the design, the other was responsible for implementation. Without any disagreement, they started to work immediately.

The little boss didn’t want to be bothered by anything other than designs, so his business partner had to do all the work.

In order to gather enough NPCs, Zhou Fu searched all the unemployed youth nearby. Temporary workers were definitely needed, and some of the more important NPCs needed people, who were slightly more professional. However, professional actors were every expensive to hire, so they were mainly looking for some acting school students.

Fortunately, there were some acting schools in the provincial city. So it was slightly easy to find students who needed to practice their acting skills. Anyway, the formal project was not yet decided, so they just needed to try it first.

After back and forth, a group of unprofessional amateurs was finally gathered together.

After a few days of chaos in the project area, roles were assigned, clothes were distributed, and dormitories were also tidied up. It finally looked more like it.

There was a wizard tower in the project area of Fantasy City, it was actually the general control room for this project. Zhou Fu temporarily worked as the project manager, giving command remotely to the employees outside, from the general control room. There would be many computers displaying the images, that were captured by the cameras in the project area to ensure that everything was in order.

That was how the project would look like in the future. But at the moment, it was just an empty room.

Electronization was too expensive. Although Zhou Yu didn’t feel like he was short of money, Zhou Fu insisted on waiting until later. To be honest, the cost of this project test has totally exceeded Zhou Fu’s expectations. Clothing, props, personnel, plus 100 primary school students’ two-weeks’ food and accommodation, in order to test a project, they had already spend 10,000 already.

Therefore, although Electronization was very good, there was no need to implement it at the moment.

......................

Winter vacation has finally begun, but the Warrior Training Camp in Fantasy City has just begun.

There were supposed to be 100 students, however, only 93 students reported in the amusement park with their guardians. Several of them went to the city with their guardians. One of them got a cold, which was very unlucky. It might take several days for the kid to recover.

Adults could come to the park and see the kids if they were worried about their kids, because they all lived nearby, so it was very convenient for them to come to the park to check. Moreover, at present, the amusement park still didn’t accept any entrance fee.

He Yuanyuan and Zhou Shuyu were the two girls who worked as cameramen.

Because of the movie “Fruit Pirates”, they both benefited a lot from it. Therefore, those two, who were grateful for it, came back to the village during the winter vacation to see if they could help with anything. And then they were immediately assigned with tasks by Zhou Fu.

There were no cameramen to record everything in these two weeks. They could make a simple documentary film or an advertising video to promote and increase the publicity of this project.

Anyway, Zhou Fu tried his best to make this project happen. He didn’t want to spend so much money and then came up with the conclusion that this project would not work.

On the first day of the Warrior Training Camp, children needed to choose factions and occupations.

There are three factions in The Dragon’s Treasure, namely, the Human kingdom, the Heavenly kingdom, and the Earth kingdom. For the sake of fairness, they drew lots to decide which faction the children should join in. Unexpectedly, there were 93 people reporting to the park, it was very lucky that each faction would have 31 people.

The children’s cosplay convention was about to begin immediately.
