836 The Whole World Is Ill
The batch of ordinary people in this world had already been completely replaced by a new batch in a hundred years. Some weaker evolvers had even died from illness and old age.
Ordinary evolvers had fleeting lives in this Land of the Fallen. Their lifespans would only increase somewhat following the growth in their cultivation. However, even gods would walk to the end of their lives after six or seven hundred years.
“It’s been a hundred years,” Chu Feng softly sighed. He felt an indescribable sense of having been through good and bad times. An era had passed and mortals faced a generational change in one hundred years. The many traces of their previous life no longer existed anymore.
“People really are too minute and insignificant.”He raised his head and looked at the firmament. This sun and moon existed forever and the firmament was as it was before. He surveyed the scene in the distance from an elevated position. This earth was thick as it bore the weight of millions upon millions of lives. It had always been here from the beginning of time irrespective of time slipping away and its obliteration.
So much so that a rock on the ground could live on forever and surpassed various lives.
Life was miraculous, but it was weak too. Viewing the whole world broadly, it would no longer be here if one was to be slightly careless.
“It’s been one hundred years. Yaoyao and I should be the only ones left, right?”
Chu Feng had understood a long time ago that it was impossible for their souls to stay in this world that had an abundance of Yang qi for a long time without experiencing the divine blood baptism; the individual would erode as Yang qi would burn them. Even if one were to cultivate and train themselves continuously, they would almost be done for in twenty or thirty years at the most and pushing it would be forty to fifty years.
Now that he thought about it, he didn’t see Yuan Shicheng, the Undead Silkworm Prince and Yuan Yuan ever since they parted ways in this world. They should have returned a long time ago.
Even Ying Zhexian, the big black yak and Qin Luoyin had already returned for tens of years.Even though he knew he could meet them in the universe they originally came from, CHu Feng still had a kind of feeling that the world had transformed. He experienced being separated in life and death in this world.
“It is worth being alert. Once I return to the universe I originally came from, I have to know how to treasure it.”
Chu Feng’s soul light was rich and powerful and he almost came in contact with the Quasi-sage realm. There were sparkling and translucent threads outside his body which were shattered and incomplete rules and order that linked with him.
This was the path of a Quasi-saint!
But Chu Feng didn’t dare to truly seize it and fuse them within his body. He was afraid that if he had a moment of enlightenment by chance and became a Quasi-saint, his own physical body would burn into a ball of ashes when he returned to Dameng Pure Land.
If someone else were in his shoes, they would be cultivating with all their might, comprehend the inner essence of the world and seizing the veined patterns of order in order to become a saint. Yet he restrained himself for fear that he truly could breakthrough.
The soul light of his life was splendid as many sparkling and translucent order lines were linked with it, but this wasn’t Chu Feng’s greatest gain.
At present, his strongest point was that his level of mastery over domains was steadily increasing. The great majority of his time across a hundred years was spent comprehending domains as well as polishing and refining all kinds of complex terrains so he could deploy domains.
Chu Feng grew stronger a step further than he was before. He ascended from mid-Great Scholar to its later stages. Even more than that, he had recently made a most crucial breakthrough and became a Grand Great Scholar.
There weren’t many realms in domains. It started from Great Master to Great Scholar. Grand Great Master came next and the last was a Saint!
It would be frightening once he reached the realm of a Saint since he could effectively and directly get rid of Saints!
Chu Feng was now a Grand Great Scholar and he was already unafraid of Quasi-saints. At the very least, he could slaughter creatures at this realm after he fixed up his domains.
Naturally, he had to be amply prepared for him to be able to do so. After all, he was only at the pre-Great Grand Scholar realm.
Chu Feng stood in the mountain ridge. It was autumn again and yellow leaves covered the mountains and plains. Autumn wind rustled in the air and every time it blew past, leaves fell as far as the eye could see.
Chu Feng’s soul light was very strong, but he couldn’t stand steadily. A sort of indescribable spatial energy was vaguely pulling him away from the ground and up into the air so that he could leave this world.
He knew that was the energy of the vortex!
This world was rejecting him and that vortex was calling out to him over there. Too much time had passed so this world was pushing him aside with the intent to send him back to the universe he originally came from.
“I’m a little unwilling to leave just like this.” Chu Feng recalled how he once said that he wanted to pluck a divine medicine for Yaoyao, but he still hadn’t put that thought into action until now.
He took a look and saw that Yaoyao was still in seclusion. She had yet to emerge and wisps of her majestic soul light could even escape through the domain. They tangled with the Order God Chain and formed a terrifying power.
Yaoyao had become stronger again!
“Divine medicine!” Chu Feng spread out an old-fashioned beast-hide map as he wanted to pluck a divine medicine for Yaoyao and assist her in her cultivation.
He was already a Grand Great Scholar. It was very difficult for the domains of this world to obstruct his footsteps, but once he went to pluck divine medicines, it was very possible that this would alarm the gods. If that was the case, it would be incomparably dangerous and difficult for him to escape even if he wanted to.
Initially, the deities didn’t place the sacred medicine in their eyes; they were indifferent to it being stolen. But it was different with divine medicines because even deities would pay attention to that.
Chu Feng glanced at this mountain ridge and left a note for Yaoyao. After that, he left this place alone and crossed the earth. He travelled by steering Earth qi and moved several kilometers in the time it took to wink.
He came to the Vicious Beast plateau first and to his amazement, he understood a major event that had occurred over several decades.
The Moon Goddess had entered her twilight years and someone had gotten rid of her. A new god replaced her and called herself the Dark Moon Goddess. The Moon Goddess’ faction have been purged!
This was the Land of the Fallen. It was incomparably cruel. Once a god stepped into its twilight years, even they would face a very lamentable end too and those who coveted after their position would immediately be killed.
In reality, they rose to their positions like that too. Any seat of a god was dyed with blood and there were multitudinous corpses behind them.
The Moon Goddess was originally outstandingly graceful and seemed to be pure and holy, but she too had swallowed an old deity and rose to her current position in those days.
In reality, gods weren’t the only ones doing so. Even normal evolvers were fighting at close quarters and using the special technique to get rid of their opponents before tempering and refining their Divinity Granules to ascend in ranks in that manner.
In short, this world was very cruel as bloody events accompanied a powerhouse’s path of emergence in power.
“The Shaman God is already in his twilight years. Only the Martial God is still considered to be strong. The Vicious Beast Plateau’s scepter is changing, so there is bloody rain and wind as expected.”
Chu Feng paced back and forth here. After he had sufficient understanding and felt that the Shaman God’s twilight years had already arrived, his divine medicine garden was an ideal destination.
But he didn’t make a move immediately. He rushed back to the abyss with the intent to take a look at the condition those divine beasts were in.
Chu Feng passed the wasteland where Qin Luoyin, the Little Daoist and Ying Zhexian had once resided at before and stopped for a little bit. Soon, he was stunned because he saw a familiar living being there.
All of the yellow fur covering that crippled fox’s body was about to fall off completely. The latter half of its body had turned to stone, but it was still alive and basking in the sun on a cliff.
This was a fox that had called himself the Honourable Deity of the Yang Realm.
Its eyes seemed to be slightly muddy as it already had one foot in the grave and wasn’t in such a good state.
“Senior Honourable Deity.”
Chu Feng stopped and greeted it.
“You are…” The crippled and petrified fox was slightly startled for a moment before he soon came to himself and said, “So, it’s you. You still haven’t left? This world really isn’t that beautiful. Living here for one more day will bring about an additional share of danger. How is it as good as your own universe?”
Chu Feng was astounded. This petrified fox knew a lot of things. Could it really be a Honourable Deity from the Yang Realm?
“Then why didn’t Senior leave?” asked Chu Feng.
The fox with the yellow fur bitterly smiled and the later half of his petrified body moved slightly as it said, “I am an abandoned child. Someone threw me here. Where can I go? What awaits me when I leave here might be death.”
“Senior, since you dare to call yourself an Honourable Deity, who dares to throw you in here? You can just go back,” said Chu Feng.
He held a lot of curiosity towards this mysterious fox. Evidently, this stone fox had an abnormal identity and an unusual past.
“Return?” The crippled and petrified fox seemed to be lost in thought. After that, he had a desolate look across his whole face. It had the totality of human attributes as it could really display the minute details of the four types of human emotions, namely: happiness, anger, sorrow and joy. “I can’t go back,” it said wiin disappointment and frustration as well as heartache.
After that, it was lost in thought for a moment and said, “The Yang Realm is very large and vast. Powerhouses come forth in large numbers and I dare not say that Honourable Deities are definitely unrivalled. Only that place is the true land where there is a power struggle between geniuses. The other universes, this place and the Yang Realm for example, only managed to go to the Yang realm after nurturing the most powerful geniuses for how many eras? Most of them could only shine in one corner of the land. The is still a great discrepancy in the number of people who can truly ascend onto the great stage and compete with the disciples a few old folks nurtured or strive with some disciples from the orthodoxies of a few glorious eternities. The Yang Realm is too resplendent and can only become even more powerful. It is not at the most powerful stage because some experts have been living in seclusion for an unknown number of lifetimes. Some sects have even declined yet rebuilt themselves again. The orthodoxies within monasteries changed one after another, but the earliest ancestor from the first generation sect who was deep in sleep would come out alive from the most ancient layer of soil beneath that monastery once in awhile which intimidated people. There is also the forbidden land that has existed forever since ancient times. Even experts from the Yang Realm don’t dare to attack that place. There are endless mysterious legends that people look forward to. Even I want to know exactly what thing or person is living in seclusion.”
Chu Feng didn’t speak as he quietly listened to the crippled fox.
The petrified fox was talking endlessly without getting to the point. He talked about many things and some were overly shocking to the universe that even Chu Feng was shocked by them.
For example, he spoke about a sect that had an inheritance of eight million years. They weren’t lacking in gods and even had a few Divine Kings overseeing them as well as a few people who were close to being Honourable Deities. But that was because they wanted to excavate a lost treasure at some ominous place, the whole orthodoxy was exterminated in a single night. The gods in that race died tragically whereas one Divine King had survived but he had gone mad and would scream whenever he saw anyone. The earliest ancestor who died was among the remnants as he had faced great strange matters in his twilight years.
Oh Divine King! How could a Divine King that frightened normal people and living being actually be scared within an inch of their lives before they finally went insane. It was terrifying just thinking about these matters.
“That Master of mine has such a ruthless heart. He is the most heartless expert from the Yang Realm…” When he talked about the future, the crippled and petrified fox actually shed tears.
It was very depressed. It was unknown how many years he had been in this world, but he had lived far longer than many gods because there were some things on his body that could make him struggle on whilst at death’s door for the time being.
After that, it lost control of its emotions when he spoke about matters where it hurt and felt melancholic for a very long time as he gave Chu Feng an account about a few matters.
“Young man, I advise that it’s best for you to leave a little sooner. Go to the Yang Realm if you have the opportunity to do so and you might still be able to resolve the lingering effects of a chronic disease that you have,” advised the crippled fox.
Chu Feng was stunned and said, “What lingering effects of a chronic disease do I have?”
“This is a Land of the Fallen . The whole world is sick. You’re not the only one who’s sick; there’s not a single person who isn’t sick. You saw how long a god can live. Their lives came to an end when they were six or seven hundred years old. How is that possible?!”
“I’m ill,” Chu Feng said to himself.
“Your illness is rather severe since you have been in this world for one hundred years. The most effective way is to charge into some forbidden land and encounter a fortune. If you can bring out a mysterious talisman paper to be reincarnated after that, this would be the most dependable method. But that too is the most unrealistic method. You can’t do it. Even experts charging into the forbidden land would be killed and only a few people can succeed in that kind of place. The only exception is if many experts from the Yang Realm join hands to strive for it,” proposed the crippled fox.
Chu Feng was silent. Was this world so terrifying? A great problem would arise since he had stayed here for a hundred years?
“Since you can’t walk such a path, then you should fight to go to the Yang realm. There is a special terrain and landscape there. I can’t say for sure, but some places there might have rare fruits or special Honourable Deities that can help you dispel your illness.”
“Is it that terrifying?” Chu Feng couldn’t stop himself from asking. The Land of the Fallen really was too astonishing. He had just lived here for a hundred years, yet there was actually such a problem.
“It’s even more frightening than what you’re imagining. Did you know that my almighty Master was determined to refine this world into the most valuable treasure of time a long time ago, but he shockingly abandoned it in the end.
“What?!” Chu Feng was gobsmacked.
He had already heard from Young Lady Xi that those from the Yang Realm originally called this world the Land of the Fallen. Various gods once assaulted the Yang Realm in those days and ripped open a corner of the land.
But in the end, an expert from the Yang Realm had led disciples and killed so many gods and even divine kings in the end without leaving a single one behind.
In the end, that expert from the Yang Realm wanted to refine this world into the most valuable treasure of time. This was also possibly why the flow of time in this place was so terrifying too.
Chu Feng never thought that he would have the fortune to understand that there really was such an expert from the Yang Realm and that his disciple was right here.
“Refining a world into the most ultimate treasure of time. Just how astonishing is such an ability exactly?” Chu Feng was shocked as he looked at this crippled fox with the yellow fur.
He had many questions he wanted to ask and had many matters he wanted to consult about. This was too astonishing.
Chu Feng felt that he had encountered a remarkable living being. This petrified fox was too frightening; he was that person’s disciple so he ought to have personally expeirienced these things before.
At this same time, this person should also truly and thoroughly understand why this world was ill too.
“Senior, you’re his disciple?”
“That’s right. I even fought side by side with my Master in those days. We killed the gods and divine kings of this world. What a shame! It’s very lamentable too. In the end, I was reduced to this world to rot together with this place.”
When he talked about all these, the petrified fox was about to shed tears as he recalled some matters that hurt him deeply.
“Master, you have a very cruel heart!” muttered the petrified fox.
Chu Feng felt stunned, but he regained his spirit at the same time. He wanted to enquire about the process and find out all kinds of secrets.
