“It’s you! There can’t be anyone else or they’d have done it by now!” Heavenly Sovereign barked and pointed a crooked and bleeding finger at the weakened and visibly older Elder Song.

“Of course it’s me. Isn’t it obvious from my state that I did it?” Elder Song mocked.

“H-how is that possible? Did Zhuo Fan pass on my art to you? No, for even if he did, you’d never be able to train it to my level, not when even he couldn’t.” Heavenly Sovereign looked on with doubt and disbelief of what he was seeing, even as the Heavenly Eyes drained the last of their energy and faded away as they canceled each other out.

“Good luck figuring it out. You won’t get an answer from me. I’m not dumb enough to reveal my cards just to get a moment in the limelight and get sucked in into another creepy eye. It was bad enough my prismatic event already painted a bloody target on my back.” Elder Song’s weary voice snapped, not at all bothered he was backtalking the strongest being in the world.

“You just have to live with the fear that you can expect anything from me, keeping one eye on me and another on Zhuo Fan. But I wonder, can you do that? Look at the state you’re in, you can’t even piece yourself together like before. Maybe the next attack will send you packing.” He continued infuriating Heavenly Sovereign.

“Elder Song, what are you doing? You’re only making it worse for you and us.” Murong Xue shout whispered, shivering at the mere recollection of the nightmare she had lived through and not wanting to imagine what could be worse than that torture. He had one too many close calls already.

The next time there might be no one to save her. Case in point, even Elder Song had to save himself when all the rest did everything, they could to get him out of the Heavenly Eye’s influence to no avail. They hurt Heavenly Sovereign in the process sure, but the guy didn’t look to be so close to falling as Elder Song put it. In fact, he was more ready to send them to hell many times over, if the burning and hateful looks he gave them were any indication.

While Heavenly Sovereign was fuming by himself, Zhuo Fan had a private talk with Elder Song. “Can you go on? We need you if we hope to survive. I’m sure you sensed how our fight went even before you showed up and it wasn’t looking good. Maybe with you we can tip the scales in our favor and get this over with so we can address the other issue.”

Elder Song sent back, “I can still fight, but not to the same extent, not if I want to survive that is. I just hope it will be enough.”

“So what’s it going to be, Heavenly Sovereign? Still up to more punishment, or have you had enough?” Zhuo Fan challenged the already furious man that blast him out of existence for some odd reason to everyone else.

The shout snapped Heavenly Sovereign out of his little hissy fit, snapping his eyes on Zhuo Fan and even smiling after a moment. “Thank you for that, little brother. I almost forgot why I was here and let an unknown variable get to me, but now I’m back to thinking clearer and won’t change my mind. All of you shall die here, and you!” Pointing at Elder Song, “will have it the worst of them all.”

While he refocused on getting their paths and cleansing the world, he wasn’t so quick as to get over his grudge on Elder Song for stealing his move like it was nothing. It just didn’t make any sense to him how it could’ve been done just like that, not without centuries of training in his art at least. Why didn’t he show the other moves from his arts? Why only the very last one specifically?

“Great! Here we come!” Zhuo Fan declared with a grin while sending a command to the sacred beasts to throw another black thunderflame at him.

In the meantime, he coordinated with the other Sovereign, now Elder Song included, to finish him once and for all.

“Give it all you can, Elder Song. Now’s the time!” Zhuo Fan added at the end.

Heavenly Sovereign was so focused on Elder Song he almost missed the sacred beasts’ actions, but at the last minute he Shifted out of the way, glad his instincts never failed him so far.

However, he found himself Shifting right before an even bigger attack Zhuo Fan’s group managed to unleash. Thanks to Elder Song’s contribution, the fused attacks now looked dangerous in his eyes, if not downright deadly.

He shouted as he pulled out all his tricks, from Void Walls to using Void Annihilation to break the attack, but nothing worked, the attack kept coming and all he could do was brace.

The resounding explosion shook the entire Sacred Domain, with even the sea of blackness halting its advance, momentarily. It felt like the fabric of reality was breaking down around them. Any more of this and there might be nothing left to save, not when they would be the ones responsible for its destruction.

“Is it over?” Murong Xue asked with a trembling voice, unable to believe their worst enemy was vanquished just like that, using an attack that they’d been using on him many times already but was never enough to finish the job.

It would seem, by all intents and purposes, that Elder Song’s addition was what they needed to swing the tides in their favor and be rid of this nightmare.
