Tandoori & Friendly [Part 1]

“H-HOT!”

*hah hah* William gulped down water after eating a spoonful of Emma’s special curry because it was too spicy.

“Are you alright, William?”

Arban helped William refill his now empty cup.

“See what I told you? Just eat the mild one from the pot over here. You still have a child’s palate.”

“William, I will eat yours, so take another plate for the mild curry.”

“Ughhh, even though my spicy food tolerance used to be top-notch (in our past life)…”

Emma reminded William with a fed-up face while George asked him to pass over his plate of curry.

William bitterly went towards the mild curry pot.

“Excuse me… How’s the spiciness, everyone? Is it alright or…?”

Other than Emma’s embroidery friends and Arthur, who she invited to dinner together, His Majesty the King and Prince Edward were also in the Stuarts’ tent for some reason.

Seeing them here, the Stuart family thought, ‘Is it okay for the Royal Family to eat food besides the ones cooked by their exclusive chef so lightheartedly? What’s more there’s no food taster here…’ a little worriedly.

“Is this the dish Emma-chan made? Curry… was it? It’s super delicious! I can even eat several plates of this. The meat and vegetables inside were simmered until soft… I can’t stop eating this.”

The king gobbled up the curry enthusiastically under the stare of the anxious Stuart family.

In the end, the family thought it didn’t matter as long as the king was fine…

And as usual, Emma’s focus strayed to how the king looked, ‘Since the last time I was in the scurvy treatment center, this is my first time seeing the appearance of a cool old man eating. As expected, I will never get tired of this sight, no matter how many times I see it.’

The meal continued.

…the problem was…

“Pardon, Your Highness. Does it not suit your taste?”

In contrast to the king, Prince Edward was staring at his curry intently while clenching his spoon.

“N-No, it’s nothing like that. It’s just that when I think that this is what Emma made… my heart feels so full…”

To think that I get to eat her home cooking… I’m so glad I participated in the extracurricular lesson. Prince Edward had a useless internal struggle to accept this sudden good fortune.

“I didn’t put any poison inside, so please eat it with ease of mind.”

“Huh? Your Highness? If you don’t want to eat it, should I help you finish that?”

Arthur reached his hand for Edward’s plate when he saw how the prince hadn’t moved his spoon for a while now.

“W-What are you saying, Arthur! This is Emma’s precious home cooking… Of course I will eat it! *chomp!* …?! HOT!”

The prince hurriedly stuffed the curry into his mouth before Arthur could take it, but it was spicier than he imagined.

“P-Pardon me, Your Highness? There’s also the not-spicy one, so there is no need to force yourself…” I’ll be in trouble if I am called out for lese majesty because of something like this. Emma panicked.

“No, Emma, that’s not it! I’m alright. It’s just that it was spicier than I imagined… but it’s incredibly delicious. It doesn’t taste like anything I have tried before, but it’s surprisingly delicious. It’s not only spicy but has many complicated layers(?) of flavors…?”

“Pfft! Your Highness, is that even a compliment? That’s too hard to understand!”

Arthur didn’t hold back his laughter in the face of the faltered prince.

“It’s a compliment! Of course, I’m complimenting it! It’s a little spicy, but there’s also this moreish taste, you see?!”

“Your Highness? I will bring you the mild one if it’s too spicy, you know?”

“I’m alright! Sit down, George. I’m really alright!”

The prince hurriedly stopped George before he stood up to serve him the mild curry. How can I, as an older gentleman, eat the mild one when Emma is eating the spicy one…

“Pfft! Your Highness is too funny.”
