Not Like That [Part 1]

Inside the forest, the knights and hunters found themselves at a loss.

No one could stop the abnormally strong king.

The king, who lost his rationality as an effect of getting splashed by monsters’ blood, was slashing the monsters around very excitedly.

That daring figure looked more like a soldier with countless battle experience rather than a member of the Royal Family, and the knights and hunters could only stand there, finding themselves at a loss.

After all, the opponent was the king.

Putting a single scratch on him would be unforgivable.

Everyone tried to think up a solution but couldn’t come up with an effective plan on the spot.

With nothing they could do, they chased after the king, who advanced deeper into the forest happily while defeating the monsters along the way.

When things had already turned like this, everyone couldn’t help but wish the king would be criticized for being irresponsible after this was over.

Each of them fully understood that it was a presumptuous wish, even so, they wished to get away from this hopeless situation.

That’s why they ended up making such a wish.

From the bottom of their heart.

(Please, somebody stop the king!)

Such a fervent wish suddenly came true.

However, another thought crossed the knights and hunters’ minds after they witnessed their wish come true.

(Not like that!!

That’s not what we meant!!!)

*splat*

A large, cat-like beast appeared and stopped the rampaging king.

But rather than saying it stopped him… perhaps it was more correct to say that it ‘crushed’ him…

Then, while everyone was earnestly hoping, “We beg of you! Stop crushing him!” the king under the large, cat-like beast’s forefoot didn’t move for even a flinch.

“ “ “EEEKK…!” ” ”

Everyone got goosebumps all over as their body reacted first before their mind could think that things had developed into big trouble.

“ “ “Your… YOUR MAJESTYYYY!!!” ” ”

The knights and hunters shouted all at once.

The knights came to protect the king.

The hunters came to guide everyone through the forest safely.

They had been enduring barely until the very end to fulfill this duty, forcing themselves to falsely believe that things would turn for the better from now on. Sadly, their mission was cruelly and thoroughly ruined.

(What to do… A sound like an insect being crushed came from the king…)

The price for letting the royal family, much less His Majesty the King, be killed before their eyes was not something they could pay with their own lives. It was definite that the whole clan of every knight and hunter present would be sent to the guillotine.

They didn’t even know what would become of the life and death of the Knight Order commander, vice commander, and branch chiefs who weren’t present now.

“Pl…Please, at least just the body…”

Leaving the coffin empty was the last thing they wanted.

“R-right!”

Everyone came up with the idea that maybe by risking their lives to bring His Majesty’s body back, they would be qualified to plead compassionately for the lives of their comrades who weren’t present at the scene and could protect them from getting implicated.

“Even so… My feet keep shaking and won’t move… Damn it!”

However, contrary to their wish to rush over right that instant, their bodies wouldn’t move as they wished as the shock was too great.

The knights desperately commanded their bodies to move, but before those pitifully paralyzed legs could take a step, the cat slowly lifted its forefoot that had crushed the king.

“Ah… Stop… Stop it!”

“H-His Majesty is…”

“H-He will be eaten—!”
