Clette raised her head and just like the first time she had seen him, his brilliant purple eyes stared straight back at her.

What exactly should she say to him? Clette was the first to avert her gaze from him since she didn’t know what to do or say.

“A young kid like you will soon freeze to death if you continue standing there.”

“Thank you for helping me. May I know your name?”

Clette didn’t know how to reply, so she awkwardly changed the subject in response.

“If you’re done here, then you can head back to your room. Make sure to memorize what I have taught you today.”

“Yes.”

Tita’s steps were gentle and light as he made his way out of her workshop. Tita’s words continued to echo in her ear, forcing Clette to be unable to focus on what she was currently doing. Clette concluded that having kids around was indeed annoying. She shook her head and got rid of the unnecessary thoughts flooding her mind.

Although Tita’s skills have improved over time, he still needed some guidance. As a result, Clette ordered Edmund to guide Tita.

Clette wanted Tita to grow into a refined young man. She wanted Tita to have the same education a young noble or a prince would have. However, Clette was worried that Tita won’t be able to control his violent nature. If Tita’s violent nature was exposed, then it would be used against him as a weakness. But currently, Tita didn’t have any knowledge relating to sword fighting or even self-defense.

Luckily, Tita was still young and there was still time for him to learn how to control his violent nature. Currently, he had yet had a violent outburst, instead, he had only revealed his good-natured and gentle side.

“Tita is a very intelligent child. He just finished learning the alphabet a few days ago, but he can already read extensive history books.”

“I am starting to like this main male lead.”

“Huh?”

“No, it’s nothing. Is there anything else you noticed?”

“Noticed?”

“For example, does Tita show any sign of violence? Did he ever throw a tantrum or say any harsh words to you?”

Clette appeared quite serious when she asked the question, but Edmund couldn’t help but suppressed the chuckle that almost escaped from his mouth. He believed that Clette was merely joking with him and that joke was one of the worst jokes he had ever heard.

“What are you saying? The child is extremely gentle and shy. Can’t see tell from how nervous he behaves?”

“Is that so?”

Clette breathed a sigh of relief. It seems everything was fine for now.

“Can I ask you something…”

“What is it?”

“Won’t he feel lonely here?”

There wasn’t much meaning behind Edmund’s words, but the truth behind his words drained Clette.

What Edmund said was true. The castle was already a dreary and cold place, and Tita was the only child currently living in the castle. Would Tita feel lonely with just her and Edmund living here? Don’t kids around his age like to play around in groups?

“Your grace, you should visit us more. It seems the imperial prince has become fonder of you.”

“Why should I?”

“…”

Ever since Tita thanked her, Clette had been hesitant to meet him again. Clette merely wanted to raise the child properly; she didn’t know how to show him any affection and she was afraid of growing too attached to him. She was afraid that when the time came, she would allow Tita to kill her out of pity and affection for him.

“You can go now if you don’t need anything else.”

Clette could see Edmund’s look of disapproval from the side of her eyes, but how could Edmun understand her? He didn’t know the future, so he wouldn’t understand why she was acting this way. Clette brushed it off by pretending like she didn’t notice. She wondered if Edmund would’ve done the same if he was in her shoes.

Clette pondered over Edmund’s words once again. Tita needed a friend to talk to and share his feelings with. He needed someone to accompany him, but where could Clette find such a companion? Velos didn’t have many people that were around his age.

What should Clette do?

A few days later, Clette brought a puppy to the castle. At first glance, it looks like an ordinary puppy, but the puppy was a mixture of a demon and a wolf; its name was Canis.

Only

The puppy was the size of her palm, but once it was fully grown, its size will be comparable to that of a lion. Since it was half-demon and half-wolf, it was much easier to tame it. The puppy will be very loyal to its owner if it was raised by the owner’s side since it was young. Even though the puppy will grow exponentially in size soon, it was quite fast and agile, perfect for hunting speedy herbivores and small demons.

She received this puppy from a man living in her land who asked the chief of the Lycans. Although it was hard for her to get her hands on this puppy, Clette didn’t have much of a choice. It was hard for young cubs like this puppy to survive on its own, so she cast the same spell she had cast on Tita. The spell will strengthen his immune system and help fight the cold.

What should she say once she gives this Canis to Tita?

You don’t have anything like this, so I got one for you.

I just picked this up from the street. I didn’t buy it for you…?

All Clette could come up with were these two lame lines. Clette wondered if she should ask Edmund for advice, but he will probably laugh at her dilemma. Perhaps she should order Edmund to bring the puppy to Tita for her.

Clette looked at Canis.

“Your master is a loner like you, so you should take care of each other well.”
