The Ultimate Evolution

chapter-1099
In just two seconds, the distance between Hedi Curry and Ronnie, who had turned around to help, had shortened to less than 50 meters. Before Sheyan even finished speaking, Ronnie already saw with horror that Curry had stretched out his palm with a deadpan expression. A familiar line shone on the palm. The line surged forward.
This was the sign of another 'Nether Swap' being performed.
A blinding light flashed. When Ronnie next laid his dull eyes upon Curry, he was already staring at Curry's ruthless back, limping away ahead of him. And close behind him, the legendary Violent Beasts brought with them shadows of death as they pounced on him.
Ronnie froze as if he had fallen into an icehouse. His mind had gone completely blank, not just because of fear, but also due to intense frustration, grief and, of course, disbelief!
The sharp teeth of a fierce legendary Violent Beast savagely bit into his arm. His flesh dissolved in the mouth of the monster. The intense pain caused Ronnie to subconsciously activate his last life-saving measure. An icy glow flashed from the ring on his finger, and a tough ice block that could not be destroyed instantly enveloped him.No attack could destroy this ice block that had existed since time immemorial, but Ronnie was also trapped inside and could not move an inch.
His action was merely driven by his instinct to live; every creature would instinctively strive to prolong its life to the greatest extent possible. Unfortunately, the duration of this spell was not infinite. It would last for five minutes at the most. When the ice melted five minutes later, Ronnie would still be a lamb waiting for slaughter.
The few powerful legendary beasts still attacked the ice block in a frenzy while roaring madly, despite the futility. Ripples continuously emerged on the ice block, indicating that the attacks were ineffective, yet they still persisted in biting the ice block with their teeth and bumping it with their heads until they bled.
An abrupt change in the situation suddenly occurred. Curry, gasping heavily, was running away with all his strength. He thought that he had successfully escaped, but the surface of the muddy swamp in front of him began to fluctuate violently. Then, a huge pit appeared and a colossal figure leaped out of it.
The figure had sharp claws, horns, and a long tail. It was covered in a thick black shell which protected it like an armour. Due to the splashing of mud, its specific shape was not clearly visible. The biggest impressions it left on those watching was that it was huge, ferocious, strong and horrifying!
And the way it leaped out of the mud was a picture of cruel elegance.
Curry was already like an arrow at the end of its flight. He was directly flung into the mud by this huge shadow. There seemed to be a tunnel under the mud, because after Curry fell into the mud that was at most half a meter deep, he completely sank down the mud as if he was being swallowed by the dark and evil marsh! The dark figure disappeared into the mud too. Curry's grievous screams came from beneath the ground, gradually drifting further away....Sheyan's eyes narrowed as he murmured in a low voice, "Sure enough....Just as I expected."
Sheyan's words were soft, so no one heard him. When he turned back, he saw Aldaris and Pokan both staring at Ronnie, then turned around to look at him with an inquiring gaze.
Sheyan only said one word. The word was plain, but it carried a strong determination.
"Rescue!"
Aldaris mocked, "But this idiot has been bumping heads with you at every opportunity. The last time you saved him, all you got in return was mocking and ridicule. Are you going to repeat the same mistake?"
"That guy has a foul mouth, but considering that he was willing to turn around to save others, I'm willing to take a risk to save him once more! I want him to know that there are still such things as justice and righteousness in this world. Not everyone's as vile as Curry!" replied Sheyan coldly.
Pokan did not say anything; he merely used his remaining MP to cast a layer of stone skin on Sheyan. It would increase Sheyan's load, but considering Sheyan's Strength, the added weight was not worth mentioning.
At that instant, Aldaris suddenly transmitted over a psychic wave just to mock Sheyan.
"You think I don't understand what you're thinking? You're only saving Ronnie because he's an excellent scout and a strong damage dealer, so you still have a lot of use for him."
Sheyan could not be bothered replying. With a burst of power on his feet, he dashed towards Ronnie. The mud he stirred up rose to an astonishing height.
In truth, the mysterious giant shadow posed the same threat to Sheyan as it did to Curry, but what gave Sheyan an advantage over Curry was his extraordinary Perceptive Sense!
Before the mysterious giant shadow had previously appeared, Sheyan could already feel a strong sense of danger from nearly 100 meters away. At this moment, he only dared to rush forward decisively into the midst of the enemies because he had his extraordinary Perceptive Sense to rely on.
More importantly, Sheyan was now close to his optimum condition, unlike Curry who was almost burnt out just now. Although 'Gloryheal' was still on cooldown, he had yet to use his honorary dosage or the special effect on the dark gold ring. All these factors combined gave Sheyan the confidence to perform the rescue operation.
Ronnie could not move in the ice, but he could watch. He witnessed Sheyan dashing forward like a fierce beast, leaving a trail of mud splashing in his wake. Ronnie's feelings right now were complicated. The person he trusted most had abandoned him in the most crucial moment, while the person he had the most conflict with in the team was rushing forward to save him at all costs despite the hopeless situation!!
Such a bizarre occurrence had completely distorted Ronnie's beliefs. His mind was in utter chaos; he did not know how he should face the current situation. The complex feelings had driven him close to tears. But one thing was for sure: due to his desire for survival, Ronnie would certainly not have any more animosity against Sheyan.
When the legendary Violent Beasts saw Sheyan rushing over, they instantly found a new target for their attacks. They raised their compound eyes and waved their tentacles gleefully, roaring in excitement.
Circles of ripples once again appeared in their dark gold eyes! The attack range of these legendary creatures were 400% that of the common Violent Beasts', reaching a distance of 20 meters. As soon as Sheyan stepped into their range, a slew of frantic attacks would greet his body!
But right before Sheyan entered their attack range, he abruptly accelerated. A fierce-looking image of a bull appeared behind him. He dashed forward at an incredible speed and slammed into the legendary beast nearest to the ice block. Most of the disintegration rays hit nothing but the ground behind him.
Then, with a flick of his wrist, Sheyan dropped a curse-mix to the ground. An invisible shock wave burst forth and a poisonous smoke cloud rose, but at the same time, six disintegration rays struck Sheyan!
This was the joint attack of six powerful legendary beasts! They were way more than ten times as powerful as ordinary Violent Beasts!
To make matters worse, almost all of the six attacks focused on the same area on Sheyan's back. As strong as Sheyan's defence was, there was no way it could withstand such intense destructive power. The layer of stone skin instantly shattered into dust. The flesh on an area the size of a basin on his back immediately burst open, accompanied by a gush of blood! The wound was so terrible that the bones inside were visible!
Pokan and Ronnie both felt their heart sank watching this scene! Regardless of whether they would admit it, since receiving Sheyan's help, he had become their source of hope. When they saw Sheyan taking all those hits, they both thought Sheyan was done for.
Fortunately, only one of the legendary Violent Beasts that attacked Sheyan had the power of petrification, and the petrification effect did not pass Sheyan's toughness check. The rest of the legendary beasts had toxin attacks as well as diseases, weakening, etc., and they were perfectly countered by the 'Stairway of the Sun'.
Sheyan no longer intended to hide his strength. After groaning with pain, he went all out! The nightmare imprint on his chest instantly glowed with a blinding light that shot straight up into the sky. The light formed an image of a cross between a tightly-held fist and a shield!
"NO WAY!" Pokan drew in a sharp breath. "That bastard Seaman has dual-specialty?! He's also an MT?!?!"
Ronnie's eyes also popped out. If he could move, his jaw would probably have fallen to the ground in shock. MTs were rare enough in the realm, and dual-specialty contestants were even rarer. Someone with both these identities was virtually unheard of, but...one such person had suddenly appeared in front of them!!
Ronnie was immediately overcame with ecstasy, like a drowning man who had caught on to a straw that could save his life. His desperate heart was once again filled with a strong desire to live!
After Sheyan had taken the blows, his HP had dropped drastically. Fortunately, the shockwave from the curse-mix had stunned these Violent Beasts in place for three seconds, and the curse smoke had started spreading.
