Chapter 148 – They finally got rid of the pair of wild mandarin ducks (1)
The private room at the restaurant was in a Japanese natural wood style.
If one was to open the window, one would be able to see the green, lush view outside.
Nevertheless, this was a typhoon day. Nevermind about opening up the window, the owner probably wanted to add a few layers of metal wires outside of the window right about now.
Plus, it was dark outside and there was no scenery to speak of.Unless one wanted to see some ghosts in the mountain?!
That was what was going through Lin Yiyi’s mind.
Then, she looked over at Lu Xun, who was sitting across from her and looking blue. She couldn’t resist laughing.
He was truly feeling blue. This was his first time asking a girl out to dinner in his 32 years of life, alright?
Who knew it would have ended up like this…
He wished lightning would just strike him right now as they speak!
Suddenly, a thunder came from nowhere, and he was so startled he almost jumped out of his skin.Lu Xun, “……”
“AHAHAHAHAHA!” The startled look on him was just too comical. Lin Yiyi pulled out her cellphone and recorded his still-startled look into her album.
“Let’s order first.” He didn’t even want to talk anymore.
Lin Yiyi quickly responded with, “Okay. Okay.” Then, she cocked her head and asked the server, “How are you going to go home after work if the typhoon has landed?”
The server gave her a very pleasant smile and said, “Oh, there are dormitories for employees in the back.”
No wonder their service was still so enthusiastic in weather like this! The server’s words reminded Lu Xun.
“It’d be difficult to get out of the mountain in this rain. Let me see if there are hotels in Tingxi.”
He had opened up the app on his phone to look.
But, before he was able to complete his search, the server eagerly informed him that, “No, Mister, there isn’t any~”
Lu Xun’s fingers that had been punching at his cellphone paused in midair.
Lin Yiyi could have sworn that she could hear the ~ at the end of the server’s sentence…
“Ugh, nevermind. Just bring the dishes.”
Lin Yiyi pointed at the menu in her hand and said, “Perhaps the rain will let up when we are done eating. Let’s just try to leave as soon as the rain stops.”
In the end, rather than lessening up, the rain grew heavier and heavier after dinner.
The rain was so strong it looked like someone was dumping buckets of water onto their car…
Sitting in the car, the windshield wipers have no effect whatsoever in the torrential rain.
“Maybe, we should wait a little bit longer? And leave when the rain let up a little?” said Lin Yiyi with uncertainty.
Lu Xun nodded.
The two sat and watched the rainstorm from inside the car. Their hearts were also as turbulent as the rainstorm.
As for any sense of romance… There was none whatsoever!
It would be cleansing to the spirits had they been looking at a beach and sun; poetic if it was clear sky and limpid water; but who’d find downpouring rain romantic?
Lu Xun looked up at the sky. And was a little bit disturbed by how dark it was getting. At the rate it was going, were they going to spend the entire night in the car if the rain didn’t stop?
He sneaked a peek at Lin Yiyi, who was resting her chin on her palm and looking outside of the window. He immediately looked away with a guilty conscience.
“What if the rain goes on for the entire night?” Lin Yiyi asked the same question that he has on his mind.
“It won’t,” replied Lu Xun, unflinchingly.
Sometimes, especially when one was a bit anxious or worried, it helped a lot when there was someone else nearby.
Lin Yiyi, too, felt less anxious after hearing Lu Xun’s words. She reclined the back of the seat and laid down on it. Adjusted to a more comfortable position, she said, “Oh, by the way, I haven’t told you that my parents are back.”
Lu Xun gave her a look. “I know. Old Gu told me over the phone last night.”
Lin Yiyi hadn’t expected the two men to talk to each other so frequently. “And you didn’t take the opportunity to say you wanted to come over?”
Lu Xun, “……”
He did. He was turned down, alright? He felt very wronged as well. But he wasn’t going to say that out loud!
