Chapter 40: The Arrival of a Formidable Enemy

That person was the Big Boss of the entire Agency of Special Affairs, and the Sea-stabilizing Holy Cudgel nailing the demons within and outside the country firmly in place.

“I was put in-charge as our Chief is on a business trip overseas. I was feeling so anxious, but now that I see you here, Mr. Lu, I feel more at peace!”

Square-faced Fatso couldn’t help but heave a sigh of relief when he saw Lu Xuan. No matter who the Flying Dragon Sect sent into the mainland this time, with Lu Xuan around, all problems were as good as solved.

“Why exactly did your Chief send you guys here?” Lu Xuan asked.

Square-faced Fatso quickly answered, “We must not let these overseas powers wreak havoc as they please in Huaxia!”

Lu Xuan nodded. “Got it!”

Lu Xuan said as he waved his hand, “I need to go back to my friends. I’ll contact you at a later time!”

After bidding Square-faced Fatso goodbye, Lu Xuan returned to Lu Yuling and Guo Yuanyuan. Beside them stood a tall and well-built man, looking to be in his twenties.

The three of them chatted away passionately.

“A third of the entire village’s assets belong to our sect. I guess you could call us one of the major stakeholders of the village!” said that man in all smiles.

“I didn’t expect your sect to be this awesome, Senior!” Guo Yuanyuan replied with a slight exaggeration. Her gaze towards the man was tinged with a little bit of spiciness.

“While the matches in the morning may look exciting, the real show only starts at night. But not many know about it. Since you Juniors are here, why don’t you wait for a bit more? I’ll show you around, and I promise not to bore you!” the man offered while wearing an expression of mild smugness.

Upon seeing Lu Xuan making his way over, he asked, “This is? Do you know each other?”

Only then did the two girls notice Lu Xuan.

“Senior Li, this is the guide that Yuling’s father found for us. Who would’ve known that he would be unfamiliar with the place himself!” The disdain in Guo Yuanyuan’s eyes was visible.

When she turned to look at Senior Li, her expression became pandering. All she needed was to write on her face saying that she wanted him to flirt her.

Senior Li was very used to such a scene. He was good-looking and came from a wealthy family. While his family’s net worth of tens of millions might not be comparable to the ultra-rich, he was considered quite well-off. He had been a rich kid since he was young, so he never lacked girls who were smitten with him.

There were so many that he could not even start to count them.

However, he wasn’t that interested in Guo Yuanyuan. Instead, his eyes brightened at the sight of Lu Yuling. As he wanted to leave a good impression in front of Lu Yuling, he could only pretend not to see the flirtatious glances coming from Guo Yuanyuan.

“My name is Li Xun. What’s your name, brother?” Li Xun held his hand out and beamed brightly.

“Lu Xuan!” Lu Xuan eyed Li Xun and could not be bothered to exchange pleasantries. He could tell with one look just what kind of a person Li Xun was, and it was easy to guess Li Xun’s ulterior motives.

However, he had no intention at all to stop him. Lu Yuling and Guo Yuanyuan didn’t have the courtesy to look him in the eye even once, and it was only natural that he would wash his hands clean of their business.

If not for the sake of his mother, he would never participate in this blind date masked as a tour-guiding activity.

After his rebirth, kinship was something he cherished more than ever, especially when he had already lost it once.

So long as it wasn’t against his morals, he was unwilling to go against his mother’s wishes.

“You’re quite aloof, brother!”

Li Xun’s eyes constricted slightly. That was the first time someone had turned him down so humiliatingly. Some resentment flashed past the depths of his eyes.

However, he quickly put on a warm and welcoming facade.

“Ahh, let’s not bother ourselves with him anymore! Senior Li, tell us about the other fun that we can have at this martial arts competition!” Guo Yuanyuan snapped impatiently.

“Since you already have a tour guide, I guess I’ll take my leave!” Lu Xuan said straightforwardly, reading the situation. He saw a familiar face in the distance, and it was none other than Ling Huang.

“Go, just go!”

Guo Yuanyuan had looked annoyed for some time now.

On the side, Lu Yuling didn’t say anything as well. She was clearly unsatisfied with Lu Xuan as well.

When Lu Xuan walked over, Ling Huang was engaged in a spirited conversation with the local mayor.

After all, Ling Huang was worth billions. Even a trickle from the gaps of his finger would be enough to improve the lives of the entire township.

“Mr. Lu!” Ling Huang was pleasantly surprised when he saw Lu Xuan. “Please excuse me, Mayor Zhang. My friend’s here. I’ll take a short leave!”

That mayor stared at Lu Xuan, slightly taken aback. Lu Xuan looked almost too young, yet he was able to make a tycoon like Ling Huang, who was worth tens of billions, sound almost like he was trying to please him.

Could he be the second or third generation descendant of one of those families?

One could not blame him for thinking so. In his eyes, that was the only plausible possibility.

Otherwise, with how much Ling Huang was worth, he could even speak eye-to-eye with the provincial leader instead of falling a step lower.

“What brings you here, Mr. Lu!” Ling Huang laughed.

“I’m here to stand in as a tour guide, but they’ve found someone better, and so I’m free!” Lu Xuan smiled, paying it no mind at all.

Ling Huang was a little curious about just who they were that they could make a powerhouse like Lu Xuan be their tour guide. He assumed that even the sons and nephews of the leader of the Inner Palace would not be worthy.

It never crossed his mind that it was not some leader’s son or nephew at all; instead, it was an existence that commanded the obedience of Lu Xuan, the Celestial Lord.

“Why would you be to free to watch this martial arts competition, President Ling?” Lu Xuan asked.

“I come every year to see if there’s anyone suitable to be my bodyguard!” Ling Huang replied.

The full-blown support of the magnates was one of the reasons why this rogue competition in a small village could expand in scale year by year.

The wealthier they were, the more fear they had towards death. And so the more attention they would pay to their team of bodyguards.

Especially after that entire ordeal, Ling Huang had opened his eyes to just how important it was to have a genuinely formidable bodyguard.

Otherwise, he would have lost his life ages ago, not to mention all the money that would have been lost.

At the same time, in a hidden corner of the village. Every Chen who was participating in this martial arts competition had gathered.

Most were young men, except for a couple of middle-aged men. However, all of them carried an air of ferociousness, and it was clear to see that all of them were trained in martial arts.

Out of them, one man, in particular, stood out the most. When all young men were standing, he was the only young man who could sit. He could sit and stand as tall as those few middle-aged men; in fact, he seemed to be the center of the middle-aged men.

He shut his eyes tightly. His entire being seemed like a sharpened sword trying to soar into the clouds. He had forced that aura down by force.

“This time, we must annihilate the Seven Invincible Sect!”

“I heard that Lin Sheng from that Seven Invincible Sect will be here in person!”

“This is our chance to cripple Lin Sheng and crush the backbone of the current generation of the Seven Invincible Sect!”

The Chens began to chatter noisily about their plans.
