Eguchi Ren: This chapter is a little short

“Hey, just how big is this dungeon? How long before we see the end of this place?” I grumbled to no one in general.

“Do you mean the end of this dungeon?” asked Grandpa Gon politely.

“That too, it has already been for 20 days but we’re still stuck on the second floor.”

I’m seriously getting so, so tired of looking at the sea and travelling on non-solid ground. On top of that, I had been suffering from a kind of crisis…

Ever since that incident with [Ark] looking at me strangely… I mean, the [Ark] are good people and I certainly don’t dislike them, but, it’s just, well, I really, really don’t need the extra hassle of having to feed an entire party on top of the Gluttonous Four.

Once we get back to Ronkainen and split the loot, I must make sure to break up this joint party thing as soon as possible.

“Master, once we completed this floor, that is the end of this dungeon,” said Grandpa Gon.

“What? Really? So, this dungeon only has two floors?!”

Two gruelling floors certainly, but I had half expected to encounter a scorching dessert or frozen tundra later- no, no, no, what the heck am I thinking? A two-floor dungeon is a good thing. How many people could even complete the first floor, let alone travel beyond that little island on this floor?

“”What the heck, this is it?! Awww, what a shame…””

No, Dora-chan, it is not a shame. It is a great thing.

“”Sui wants to go on and on and on and on~~””

I… really don’t want that, Sui.

That said, even though this dungeon only has two floors, they were extremely wide. The wetland floor alone was bad enough, but it would be impossible to travel on this floor without a proper ocean-worthy ship, or long sustained flying abilities.

We only manage to come this far thanks to Sui, Grandpa Gon, Dora-chan and Fer.

Still…

“How long do we have before we reach the end of this floor?”

“Kukukuku, soon, we shall reach the end soon… kukuku…”

“Kuhahahaha, that’s right. We shall soon reach the fun part of this trip, hahahahah!”

What’s with that weird laughter?

Ugh, my stomach…

It has been three days since Fer and Grandpa Gon told me that we have almost reached the end of this dungeon level.

We have been travelling non-stop on the [Mizumaru] since yesterday with no island in sight.

“Hey, are we really going in the right direction?” I said anxiously. “I mean, there’s nothing at all…”

“There is one island just beyond the horizon,” said Fer, pointing his nose in the direction of absolute nothingness. There was really nothing around us but the flat, featureless horizon.

“H-hey, why are we seeing a horizon here? A horizon is where the sky and sea meet because the planet is a sphere, so why is it like this here? Shouldn’t we be able to see straight… I mean, ughhh!!”

“Don’t think too much about it, Master,” said Grandpa Gon kindly. “It is dungeon logic, one could ask where the water came from, but it is best not to question such things…”

“… …”

“It’s best for Master to think about other things instead,”

“Th-that’s right… I wonder what I should make for dinner…”

“Dinner is a much more pleasant contemplation. I support Master in this.”

“Speaking of dinner, we collected plenty of good seafood thanks to Sui collecting all the Drop items,” I babbled. “I should feed Sui something good, right Sui-tan? Ahhh, Sui-tan has been working hard ferrying us all towards our destination~ Sui-tan works so hard~~”

I plopped to the floor, rubbing my cheek against the cool and jelly-like surface of Sui’s body.

“”Ehehehe~ Sui is happy~~””

“Ahhh, Sui-tan~~ once we get home, I’ll make whatever you want to eat~~”

“”Really~? Yay~~!!””

The [Mizumaru] began to vibrate, and to my horror, it was from Sui trying to bounce around.

“Ah, wait, don’t, ulp, don’t bounce around okay? Haha…”

“”Okay~~””

The [Mizumaru] stopped shaking and I sighed.

““Hey, what’s this about making whatever Sui likes? Unfair!””

“You can carry all of us on our trip next,” I said to Dora-chan.

“”Kuuhhh—“”

“Master, what about me…?”

Ah, GG Airways is making an inquiry…

“Do you have any issue eating the things I made for Sui? Sui carried us for days and days here,”

“I could…”

Phun, you carrying us is meaningless since we’ll miss all the really interesting things,”

“Tsk.”

“Speaking of interesting things, I truly look forward to what’s coming next.”

Fer was smirking.

I don’t like it when Fer smirks.

“What are you planning now?” I asked suspiciously.

“Kukuku, you shall see soon.”

“Hey!” I hopped to my feet and started to grab him by the cheek fur, “No fair, what the hell is going to happen?!!”

Just then, the ever clear and bright sky suddenly darkened.

Clouds gathered above us and the wind picked up. The sea around us grew choppy and suddenly, from the distance, it looked like the sea was boiling…

Monsters began to appear.

However…

Instead of running (or swimming) towards us, they were rushing past us. All kinds of monsters with hideous faces, mouths full of fangs and teeth and shiny scales were rushing away as though they were frightened by something.

Just… what could have frightened these frightening-looking creatures?

“The last island is just ahead,” said Fer.

“So, we’re about to encounter the final boss? What is the final boss?”

Fer and Grandpa Gon grinned viciously at the source of the boiling sea and black seething clouds.

They looked… super excited.

Extra.

When Mukouda-san grabbed Fenrir-sama by the fur, our hearts actually seized up. If the Fenrir loses his temper, we’re stuck on this ship with nowhere to go. Even if we throw ourselves overboard, the closest island we know of would be more than half a day away!

“As expected, Mukouda-san is incredible,” said Gaudino.

“Indeed, he’s like a Hero, right?” said Gideon.

“Hey, enough with words like that. You could get him, and by extension us, in trouble,” Siegwald grumbled. The Dwarf looked like he was sitting peacefully in place, but in reality, I know that Siegwald is keeping a close eye on the legendary monsters.

“Mukouda… very good food,”

“Well, hear, hear,” said Gaudino.

“No lie in that,” sighed Gideon.

“Excellent liquor too,” a smile appeared on Siegwald’s wary face.

“Yes… I wish…”

Members of the [Ark] sighed, but none of them verbalised their wish.

Just like that, the topic was dropped.
