Chapter 1146 - A Hero's Reward
Wooo! Wooo! Wooo!
An air defence alarm blared through all corners of Area 51. In an instant, it brought everyone’s attention to the skies above. Yet, no one on ground level was able to see anything.
“What’s going on?” Thompson felt weirdly nervous. It felt like a drill but if it really was the case, he would’ve known something about it. Thompson had no clue what was going on.
“I don’t know. Could it be…?” Jenny suddenly thought of the suspected B2 bomber earlier. One second later, someone screamed, “Bombs! Ahhhh!”
Thompson lifted his chin once again, True as told, a rain of MK84 bombs were raining down from the skies. He could see them rain down as they were massive. A single one had weighed almost one tonne!
Ka-boom!
The first MK48 fell onto the AE Research Centre’s dome roof. In that split second, the ground shook. Fire burst out in violent licks and reached for every corner. The explosion’s shock waves were so strong that it flipped the entire building over like some cardboard box. Before the first bomb had even finished its showcase, the second one and the third one had joined the party.
Ka-boom! Ka-boom!
The AE Research Centre was reduced to nothing. The military vehicles, tanks and soldiers around the facility had turned into ashes under the harsh temperature and shockwaves brought by the MK84. Whatever that remained of them were lapped up by the flames.
After a wave of MK84, a CBU cluster bomb was dropped onto an aeroplane track. The ground shook again after the mother bomb was detonated. What followed was a series of undisrupted bombings till the track was beyond repair. One of the F18 fighter jets preparing for take-off was immediately struck down by one of the bombs and perished.More explosives were thrown down from the between the clouds and brought the whole Area 51 to an inferno. Who would’ve imagined that the world’s most advanced B2 bomber plane would someday destroy the world’s most mysterious military base?
High up in the sky, Xia Lei looked absolutely crazed in the B2 plane. He had dropped most of the bombs on the AE Research centre. He had blasted it repeatedly to the point the sheer amount of explosives dropped was enough to flatten a mountain’s peak.
“You want to kill me and my wives and children? Hahaha…” Xia Lei cackled insanely. Something did not felt right about his laugh, it was eerie.
The man had been forced into a corner by both the prehistoric chosen one and Zhu Xuanyue. Somehow, the bastards even had the audacity to further threaten him with the livelihood of his family. Was he going over the line by bombing them over and over? Well, absolutely not!
The B2 bomber steered towards Mexico and resumed its journey. It had completed its job perfectly and it was time to leave.
Five minutes later, Xia Lei placed the B2 on autopilot and changed course to head towards Hawaii instead. He then ejected himself from the pilot’s cabin.
Though the B2 bomber plane was the world’s most advanced bomber plane and capable of stealth, its stealth was not as refined as the Jing Ke and Phantom drones. But this judgement wasn’t made in the sense of technology. The Americans would have their way of locating it, that Xia Lei was certain. At this moment, no less than fifty fighter jets would’ve departed other military bases in response to the emergency at hand. If Xia Lei did not leave the B2 plane, he might not survive.
The B2 bomber plane continued to glide forward while Xia Lei parachuted off to the ground, finally landing onto a span of the desert right at the west of Las Vegas.
There was an abandoned building about a kilometre away. That building was no stranger to him because it was the spot where he and his team had placed Alice at. This was a deliberate part of his evacuation plan with some unforeseen changes. For one, Xia Lei had not expected himself to reach this place through ejecting himself out of a B2 bomber. The original plan was to have Thompson ferry him out of Area 51. Xia Lei would then drive the Ferrari he bought Alice to San Diego and use Mexico as a channel.
Then again, plans rarely stayed true to their course.
Quickly hiding the tracker on the pilot’s seat and parachute, Xia Lei began stepping towards the abandoned building. He could already see the brand new Ferrari sports car parked in the garage along with the other things he had prepared prior.
Ferrari and resources were not the only things he would be taking away. There was also a woman, Alice.
Opening the basement’s door, Alice entered his field of sight.
The woman in question had yet to notice his presence. She seemed to be in deep slumber. Odd grumbles and short groans spilt past her lips occasionally. She sounded like she was in pain but at the same time, in pleasure. Judging by the contradicting displays, perhaps Alice was dreaming about an adult sin. The particular deduction was further confirmed through a brief scan over a certain body part. There were obvious responses to a conclusion.
This felt like naked seduction and big trouble to Xia Lei. The hunger for the intimacy he suppressed in his heart and body was growing stronger by the moment. He walked over, eyes red. Staring at Alice’s lovely curves, his mind wandered off to the mental image of human flesh splitting apart by a bomb and fierce flames.
He had no idea how many he killed tonight but he knew many of them were innocent lives. They had parents, wives, children and relatives that had shared no connection to Xia Lei. But this was war and war was merciless. People rarely considered the consequences of war. Hence, the man had given them a taste of their own medicine.
America’s Colour Revolution had brought Ukraine and Syria nothing close to democracy and freedom but war. The people had suffered the torments of war. Bombs, shells and the bodies of their loved ones had scarred their lives for as long as they lived. Now, the same situation was bestowed upon the Americans. Xia Lei wondered what they would feel about it.
“No… No….” Clear but guttural moans escaped Alice’s little lips, almost as if the woman was rejecting something in her dream. Yet, her tiny waist writhed ever so slightly as if trying to accommodate something.
Xia Lei’s train of thoughts was brought back by force. His mind returning to the gorgeous display before him. He inhaled deeply, finally squashing his monster of a lust flat. He was no doubt the devil himself when bombing Area 51 with the bomber, the wild imagination of Alice he indulged in earlier too made him a devil. If the man had helped himself to it, what difference would there be between him and a demon?
Xia Lei came over to the bed and tapped on Alice’s shoulder. He called her gently, “Alice? Alice, wake up.”
“Mmph!” Alice stirred and made a noise but did not wake up.
Xia Lei huffed out a bitter smile. He let Tsukino Kyoko clothe her up. Tsukino Kyoko did not mind the request because Alice was still butt naked till now.
Xia Lei reached over and tapped Alice’s ass, this time with more force. The clap was crisp and audible.
Abruptly, Alice jolted awake. She turned around like a shocked bunny, finally noticing the man by her bed. Due to the scarce lighting, all she could see was an unidentifiable shadow. One second later came her response. She screamed, “Ahhhhh!”
Xia Lei’s arm darted forward to muffle her lips. “It’s me, James. Keep it down.”
“James?” Alice was stunned.
Xia Lei loosened his palm over her lips. “Yes, it’s me. There’s no need to fear, you’re safe now.”
Recognizing his voice, she quickly flipped over and dove straight into his arms. “James! My James! It really is you!”
Xia Lei was abruptly taken aback.
“James, I really thought I’d never see you again…” Alice’s voice wavered slightly, thoroughly flooded with emotions. “I really thought you wouldn’t save me from the kidnappers and I’d be left to die here. I can’t believe you’re actually here to rescue me! I was dreaming about you earlier. You had barged into this hellhole like Rambo to rescue me, and then…”
“And then?” Xia Lei visibly relaxed. He smiled and urged her to continue. “What happened next?”
Alice inched closer to his ear and grazed her lips against the shell. “Well… What happened next happens to those cliche hero-rescues-damsel-in-distress movies. You save me and I’ll give you a hero’s reward.”
Xia Lei was dumbfounded.
No wonder she was moaning hotly in her sleep.
“Ah. What about the kidnappers?” Alice suddenly remembered that.
Xia Lei answered, “I paid your ransom and they’ve left. All they wanted was money and I’ve satisfied their itch. They won’t be back to hurt you anymore.”
“So… We’re the only ones here now?” She asked.
Xia Lei confirmed it. “Yes, we’re the only ones left here now. Alright, let’s get moving. Put on some clothes, we’re leaving this place.”
“Where are we going? England?”
“We’ll be heading to San Diego first then London. I promised that I’ll bring you to meet the real James Bond and you’ll be his Bond girl, right?” Xia Lei flashed her a smile. Unbeknownst to her, Alice was merely a cover for his disguise. Once they arrive in San Diego, Xia Lei would vanish out of sight. This meeting would be the last he’d share with Alice, there wouldn’t be a next time. Though fully aware of their approaching separation, he’d still leave her with great memories for she had helped a lot in his plan.
Just as Xia Lei’s words died on his tongue, Alice scooted forward.
Xia Lei quickly pushed her away. “Do you want the kidnappers to be back and ask for another ransom? We need to leave. This place isn’t safe.”
“But James… I really want to give you a reward.” Alice was not pleased.
Xia Lei chuckled. “You’ll get your chance on the way to San Diego. After leaving this place, all we have is time.”
That earned a lovely smile from Alice.
Two minutes later, a flashy red Ferrari glided along the abandoned route with perfect momentum.
Above the car, a few F35 fighter jets whistled across for Area 51.
No one had any idea that the culprit behind the mass destruction was just right beneath them.
The man in question was cruising along with one hand on the wheel and enjoying his sweet reward.
