chapter-1233
Gu Xijiu consciously avoided that person's contact. She glimpsed at that person without saying a word and was about to leave, but he held her wrist. He was none other than Di Fuyi, of course. He looked at her with a grin and asked, "Do you like this bracelet?"
Du Fuyi then scrutinized the quality of the bracelet. "This bracelet is only of standard quality and doesn't suit you. I've come across another bracelet that's extremely exquisite and looks much better than your Firmament Stone. Come, let me bring you to it." He took her hand and proceeded to go without even waiting for her response.
Gu Xijiu's did not budge as if her feet were rooted to the ground. "Let go of me. I have no fancy for whatever bracelet that looks much better than my Firmament Stone!" The Firmament Stone was more than a bracelet. It was her companion, one that cannot be replaced by any bracelet!
Gu Xijiu struggled to break his grip to no avail; his clasp was too tight. She raised her eyebrows at him. Just when she was about to extricate herself from a spell, he made an exertion and pulled her into his embrace. He spoke with a much gentler tone, "I'm sorry. Please don't be mad at me anymore."
Gu Xijiu did not want to fondle him on the open streets. "Let go of me first.""You'll just teleport away as soon as I let you go." Di Fuyi sighed and continued, "Xijiu, can you let me explain?"
Gu Xijiu took a gentle breath. Thankfully, she did not shake her head and spout how she did not want to listen to him and replied calmly instead, "Let go of me. Don't worry; I won't teleport away. I'll listen to what you have to say!"
Di Fuyi did not want to defy her and finally loosened his grip. He sighed, "This isn't a good location for us to chat. Shall we find a place to talk?"
…
The place that Di Fuyi found was a restaurant.
There were not too many customers in the restaurant, and the atmosphere was quiet and tranquil as well. It was a suitable place to talk.
Di Fuyi brewed tea for her. His actions were as elegant and unrestrained as the moving clouds and the flowing water.Gu Xijiu toyed with a teacup in her hand and did not say a word.
Di Fuyi poured a cup of tea for her and spoke, "Try tasting this tea that was brewed with sea water."
Was tea brewed with seawater even edible? Won't it be too salty?
Gu Xijiu looked at the cup without saying a word but did not show any intention of drinking either.
Di Fuyi sat down across from her. "Lan Jingyi is afflicted with a strange disease. She cannot suffer any form of injury by battle and cannot have her scales peeled away as well, or she will die within a minute. Mermaids usually die without reincarnation and a soul. If she dies, she'll truly depart from this world…"
Gu Xijiu was speechless. No wonder the two people's reaction was so violent and unexpected as though they were facing a great enemy when she only lacerated the other person's throat and peeled down two pieces of scales.
Gu Xijiu took a breath before responding. "I had no intention of killing her, or she'll already long be dead! The king of the mermaids did not know the intention behind my actions and was protective of his younger sister, so his attack on me was understandable and I wouldn't blame him for it. But you…"
Her gaze landed on Di Fuyi's face. The release of her grievances that she had stored in her heart for all this time had made her eyes warm, but her tone was as calm as usual. "You two just assaulted me without saying a word. I feel very sad." He should have known that she was not a reckless person.
Although he had only shattered her blade, he had hurt her hand as well, almost leading her to lash out at him. The paralyzing sensation that she felt had not entirely subsided until she sang just now, rending her heart as though it had a narrow rupture.
There was a sourness that had emerged from that wound; it was this sourness that made her reluctant to meet him at the point being.
Di Fuyi's eyes were full of penitence. "Sorry, I did not intend to injure you. Did I hurt your hand?"
He raised his hand and went to hold her right wrist, wanting to look at her hand.
