chapter-2374
Yun Qingluo had once told him that her blood was required to draw the attention of the particular crocodile. Also, she must be the one to take her blood sample. If others chose to take her blood forcibly, the blood would not work as bait for the Silver Ring Crocodile anymore. However, it was important to note that Yun Qingluo may not have told the entire truth.
Di Fuyi did not want to risk his life and venture into the unknown all because of her lies. In return, he made a few promises to Yun Qingluo in favor for her help. For example, when everything had been solved, he would let her go safely. She also requested that he not tell anyone about what happened to help her keep her dignity. If Di Fuyi chose to disagree, Yun Qingluo would rather die in agony than give out her blood to save her enemy’s life.
Her terms were not difficult to be fulfilled, so Di Fuyi agreed. He was a man of his word, so Yun Qingluo was not too concerned. If she did everything that she promised, he would definitely deliver.
To answer Gu Xijiu’s curiosity, Di Fuyi briefly added, “Whoever started the trouble should end it. We have to find a particular Silver Ring Crocodile that was used to make the poison in the first place. Other crocodiles would not work. Only she knows the way to find it, so she has to come.”
Gu Xijiu found his explanation quite unbelievable but made no further comment, for she could not tell if what he said was true or not. Instead, they discussed who should be the bait and where was the best location to kill the crocodile. These Silver Ring Crocodiles were very alert, and they always stayed near to the core of the swamp. Therefore, they had to choose a spot that was close to the core. However, Di Fuyi had done his research and found that no place around the center was safe enough for them to fight those creatures. In addition to the toxic air, there were also countless of other poisonous creatures there.
The discussion continued, but no clear plan was formed. All of a sudden, Yun Qingluo broke her silence and suggested, “I know a secret place that is not too far away from where the crocodiles live. Also, there will not be any other creatures there.” All eyes were then locked on her. To Gu Xijiu’s surprise, Yun Qingluo had willingly participated in the discussion.
Di Fuyi did not seem quite as surprised. “Where is the secret place?”
Yun Qingluo turned around and started walking. “Follow me!” She led the way.
Gu Xijiu was unsure if she should trust her, but she followed her anyway.
Di Fuyi signaled his men to stay close with Yun Qingluo to keep her safe too. As for himself, he chose to walk side by side with Gu Xijiu.
Zhu Duqing would not let himself be left behind, so he quickly walked next to Gu Xijiu as well. Unlike the other two, he could not convince himself to follow Yun Qingluo around. “Is she reliable? She’d better not take us to a dumpsite,” he whispered.Gu Xijiu shook her head and said, “The worst-case scenario is that we end up in a place that is equally unsafe. For now, let us give her a chance.” Zhu Duqing did not want to argue with his master, so he kept quiet.
Di Fuyi quickly added, “Xijiu is still the smart one.”
Gu Xijiu said nothing more but focused on Yun Qingluo, who was still taking the lead. She walked with her head held high and did not look back at all, but her fingers were obviously clenched in frustration. She must be jealous that Di Fuyi was walking with Gu Xijiu. It seemed that Di Fuyi was trying to make Yun Qingluo jealous. Perhaps, Gu Xijiu was just a tool to help him achieve that.
A sudden idea occurred to Gu Xijiu. She wanted to make Yun Qingluo feel bad, though she had decided not to take revenge on her because of Di Fuyi. She smiled and drew closer to Di Fuyi as she said, “You know me well. You are, indeed, the father of my child.”
She would rarely get close to Di Fuyi, so he took the opportunity and held onto her waist. “Of course! You are the mother of my child. He pulled her entirely into his arms while Gu Xijiu was momentarily frozen by his enthusiasm. His display of affection was slightly beyond her tolerance.
