The presence of the Bloody Bats was certainly untimely. Was this all a trick by Yun Yanli?

Gu Xijiu took a quick look at Yun Yanli’s carriage and was further convinced. There were no bats above his carriage, and even Zhu Duqing’s carriage as well. The bats were only attacking her carriage.

Irritated, she was sure that Yun Yanli must be playing a trick on them. Thoroughly annoyed by the situation, she gave her finger a bite to cast an incantation with her blood. A wizardry barrier was immediately formed, surrounding the carriage in a safety bubble.

These Bloody Bats plunged toward the carriage as a loud buzz swept across the sky. Luckily, the wizardry barrier was strong enough to withstand the impact. The barrier shook a little but did not break.

At the same time, Yun Yanli finally emerged from his carriage. He looked confused as if waking up from a dream. The drowsy look on his face faded as soon as he caught the scary sight. “Xijiu!” He called out in a panic. Swiftly, he approached the carriage. He seemed eager to help.

Zhu Duqing came to help, too. He stood on the top of his donkey-led carriage, summoning countless green stalks to spread across the sky and stop the plunging bats from impacting on the wizardry barrier.

Yun Yanli was very fast, as well. He made it right through the wizardry barrier and landed on top of the carriage. Those clueless bats were drawn by the man’s entry and followed closely.

Gu Xijiu clenched her fists in frustration. The man did it on purpose! Gu Xijiu took a few swings to kill some of the attacking bats before rushing back into the carriage.

Yun Yanli was caught by surprise from her sudden retreat but did not enter with her. He continued to fight the bats. “Xijiu, don’t worry. I will kill these bats for you,” he reassured.

He swung his sword quickly and accurately. Many tiny swords seemed to emerge on his blade, making his every attack more lethal. As his Kung Fu was powerful, the bats were afraid to get any closer. His blue robes fluttered gracefully in the breeze with his every move. It was a rather attractive sight.

“Brother Yun, you have such powerful King Fu!” He could hear a voice, that was accompanied by applause. Surprised, he quickly looked to the source of the voice, only to see Gu Xijiu standing on top of his carriage instead of her own. She was smiling and cheering for him.

Apparently, Gu Xijiu had teleported with Di Fuyi into Yun Yanli’s carriage. Di Fuyi sat uncomfortably in the wagon and was looking at Yun Yanli with added interest. When their eyes met, Di Fuyi smiled at Yun Yanli and said, “Thank you, Mr. Yun.”

Yun Yanli was speechless.

Meanwhile, the bats seemed to have lost interest in the carriage as soon as the two of them had moved out. After a long, fruitless struggle, the bats finally left, and the carriage was left unharmed.

Fortunately, Guardians Jin and Hua were only slightly injured. The Bloody Bats were actually very poisonous. A bite or a scratch was already enough to cause them harm. Nonetheless, thanks to the long-lasting effect of the antitoxin in their bodies, they were both fine and only suffered some minor scratches.

“Xijiu, are you all right?” Yun Yanli returned to his carriage and asked keenly.

“I am fine; more traumatized than hurt.” With a smile, Gu Xijiu continued, “These bats were obviously scared of you. They ran away as soon as you approached.”
