chapter-2497
Although he was not the crown prince, his parents never treated him differently. When Yun Yanli was severely injured as a result of a catastrophe he experienced, he went into a coma for ten days and ten nights. For the whole time, his parents never left his side. He could clearly remember the happy tears they cried the moment his eyes opened.
From then on, he made a promise to guard heaven with all that he could, even though he was not the crown prince that would one day succeed his father’s kingdom. He tried his best to cultivate and to become a stronger man day by day. Eventually, he became the admiral in heaven who ran the entire fleet of 10,000 divine troops.
He had become his father’s proudest son and a leader that could not be taken lightly. Never had he thought that one day he would fall and become trapped in the Shura World, a place that was devoid of any vitality. He struggled for a long time but was finally able to leave. However, upon returning to heaven, he realized that everything had changed.
Heaven had fallen into the hands of another emperor, and his parents were missing. He never gave up on the search for his parents, for he never believed that they were dead. Nonetheless, he could never find them. The lack of closure and obsession to find his parents slowly consumed him. To his surprise, he was able to see his parents again this time.
All of a sudden, he was completely overwhelmed with nostalgia. Warm tears of excitement filled his eyes as soon as he kneeled before them. It was only his introverted nature that had stopped him from giving them a tight hug. When his dad had offered to help him up, everything felt so surreal to Yun Yanli. He wanted to stand but was suddenly perplexed. The Celestial Emperor’s hard, cold hand had forcibly pressed down on him with tremendous pressure. Something did not feel right, and Yun Yanli then realized that he was in an illusion. With that knowledge in mind, he immediately launched his first strike!
The Celestial Emperor was pushed across the air, and a loud crashing sound ensued seconds later. The figure of his father was shattered into tiny pieces after the great collision. Stunned in disbelief, Yun Yanli watched as the grand palace disappeared instantaneously, along with his parents. He was still standing in the midst of the stone array and noticed that a massive stone was shattered into pieces.
Yun Yanli’s expression turned pale. Helplessly, his furious eyes turned towards the center of the array formation. “Gu Xijiu, I have never mistreated you. How could you do this to me?” It pained him to have to speak this fact.
She had used the array formation to uncover a wound that he had been hiding in the dim recesses of his mind. He would not be surprised if she challenged him in a physical fight, but he certainly had not expected her to use this dirty trick.
Gu Xijiu was equally surprised by the turn of events. The most powerful thing about the array formation was its ability to uncover one’s strongest obsession and use it against them. It invited and trapped its prey by appearing to fulfill their deepest desires. It would usually distract the victim and lock them up in the array.
Although Gu Xijiu and Kun Xueyi could not see the exact illusion that he was experiencing, they could still observe his reaction. Gu Xijiu had always thought that power was Yun Yanli’s biggest obsession. Surprisingly, it turned out that his parents were the ones he truly cared about. A sudden sense of guilt took her over by the sudden realization, and her heart momentarily ached for him.
Despite being a clone, she had once experienced the love of being in a family. It did not last long, but the love and warmth that she received from her parents stayed with her. She looked at Kun Xueyi and saw him casually leaning against a boulder with his chin cupped in his hands. Quietly, he was observing Yun Yanli. He seemed to have caught her curious eyes and answered her without even looking at her. “Stop looking at me. My species is born to be alone. Our parents send us away at birth to run our own course. I do not know even know what my parents look like. I also do not know how it feels to be loved by a family. Therefore, I cannot resonate with him.”He shook his head and added, “I thought you were his biggest obsession. What a surprise.”
Gu Xijiu looked at him half smilingly and said, “How could you think that I would be his obsession? Perhaps I should ask your master about it when we see him.”
