Di Hao was now full from his meal at the restaurant. He came next to Gu Xijiu to observe what she was doing. Secretly, he really admired his mother for being so talented. Being able to remember the exact chessboard and pieces was something out of this world!

Although Gu Xijiu had somehow forgotten the specific conversation between the two people in her dream, she strangely remembered the entire layout of the complicated game and how it unfolded.

In just a brief moment, Gu Xijiu was able to carve out the chessboard and explain the rules of the game to Di Fuyi. As the rules were quite complicated, Gu Xijiu thought that she might need to repeat the rules to him at least two to three times. It was certainly beyond her expectation that after having only explained one-third of the rules, Di Fuyi already began to play the game. “No need to go on. I understand it. Let’s start.”

He was indeed the former master of the heavenly law. Even if he had lost his memories, some of the motor skills were still in his bones. Hence, he understood the nature of the game after only listening to a few parts of the instruction.

Without wasting any more time, the two of them started playing a game together. Gu Xijiu played the black pieces in the precise way that the man in black played it in her dream. She purposely wanted to see if Di Fuyi would be able to beat the man in black from her dream. The room went quiet, and there was only the sound of the chess pieces falling on the board.

Di Hao silently looked at them. He found that his father’s way of playing chess was slightly different from before. In the dream, the master of heavenly law was decisive in eliminating his opponent’s pieces and blocking all the possible routes of his opponent. He gave up any chess pieces that he needed to win the match. He had the determination to sweep through everything that blocked his path to victory. Also, he had no personal feelings invested in the game. His bold moves and sacrifices had won him the game before.

The manner in which Di Fuyi played the game this round showed that he had a different temperament. He would try to keep many pieces as possible and played rather conservatively. Nonetheless, when he needed to give up a piece, he would not hesitate to do so.

As for Gu Xijiu, no matter how Di Fuyi played, she just followed the steps of the man in black. When this game went down to the wire, Di Fuyi actually lost! He lost!

Gu Xijiu looked up at him in utter shock. She expected him to win because the master of the heavenly law had won. Perhaps, although he knew the rules of the game, he was still inexperienced.

“These few moves had cost you the game. You should have…” Gu Xijiu subconsciously picked up his white pieces and told him how to win.

Di Fuyi smiled and looked at her. He did not talk but watched how she rearranged the white pieces step by step in the way she remembered. It was such a complicated game, and so he watched her in admiration.

Even Di Hao also fully respected her! Although he was in the dream with Gu Xijiu, he did not remember the game so well. He was certain that he would not be able to replicate the game. This made him wonder who Gu Xijiu might have been in her previous life.

After a few minutes, Gu Xijiu finally finished putting the black and white pieces back on both sides. “White was supposed to win.”

Di Fuyi turned a cup in his hand and looked at the game unfold step by step. He seemed to be thinking of something.

Gu Xijiu noticed this but did not bother him and let him slowly ponder about what he was thinking of.

“Mother, your memory is too good! I have never met anyone like you.”

Di Hao took an orange and began to peel it. He put some pieces in Gu Xijiu’s hand and continued, “You are too powerful!”

Gu Xijiu smiled. “How can I be your mother if I am not powerful?”
