Gu Xijiu briefly told him about her observations of Di Hao in the morning.

“Don’t worry. He is a boy of remarkable qualities, so nothing dangerous can ever happen to him. I am going back now. Wait for me. I will be with you soon.”

His voice was surprisingly comforting, especially when her head was in a swirl of confusion and helplessness.

During their conversation, Gu Xijiu could overhear the conversation between Di Fuyi and their daughter. “Yue Yue, come on down. We should go home now.”

Di Xuyue sounded like she was sobbing. “Father, you are finally releasing me from these ridiculously tough practices!”

It was obvious from the tone of her voice that she had been having a miserable time. Not a day went by without any practice, and the intensity of her training had caused her to feel distressed to the point where she started resenting it.

“You are dismissed, temporarily. Your mother misses you,” Di Fuyi calmly said.

“May mother live on for tens of thousands of years!”‘

“Silly. How could you curse your mother like that? She is going to live longer than that.”

“Long live mother, for tens of thousands of thousands of years?”

The playful interaction went on.

Gu Xijiu listened closely to them.

She was in a blind panic before she made the call. Nevertheless, listening to Di Fuyi’s little chit-chat with their daughter made her feel much better. Maybe the matter was not as serious as she thought, after all. Perhaps he had already figured it all out.

Even though she would have loved to continue eavesdropping on their conversation, she ended the call to focus on the boy.

She knew one or two things about the Soul Summoning Spell. Without wasting any time, she quickly cast some spells to call for his soul to return to his body.

To her disappointment, none of her spells works, and Di Hao’s soul still remained largely on the loose.

Di Fuyi and Di Xuyue, on the other hand, were already quickly making their way back.

Due to the incredible speed at which they were traveling, everything else passed by like a flash of light. To travel faster, Di Fuyi was carrying Di Xuyue safely on his back. “Father, please slow down. I am feeling dizzy,” Xuyue expressed her discomfort.

Usually, she would fly on her own. It was rare for Di Fuyi ever to carry her on his back. Normally, she enjoyed being carried, but this time, he was going too fast.

“Xuyue, you will have to get used to this as it will occur again in the future.” Di Fuyi said strictly.

He did not slow down. Instead, he sped up.

Thoughtfully, he offered her a green cloth to cover up her eyes to ease her dizziness.

Due to his incredible abilities, Di Fuyi took less than two hours to cover a total distance of 2,000 miles.

But during his absence, Gu Xijiu knew that she needed to get things in order on her end.

She sent Mu Feng and Mu Lei to the underworld to see if Di Hao’s soul had been captured.

Meanwhile, Mu Dian and Mu Yun were sent to check on the wizardry barrier to see there was any breach during their rest.

As for her, she had to stay behind with Di Hao and keep strengthening his body with an array of spells so that she would not lose the last fragment of his soul.

Seeing Di Fuyi return meant a lot to her. Relieved, she ran towards him as soon as she saw him. “Fuyi, come and check on him.”

She tried to stay calm, but the terrified look on her face spilled the truth of how anxious she truly felt. Her fingers went numb and were already ice-cold.

Di Fuyi grasped her by the hand and gave her a tight hug. “Don’t be afraid.”

Di Xuyue removed the blindfold to see her mother but was distracted as soon as she saw Di Hao lying lifelessly on the bed. She jumped down and was ready to rush to the bed. “What happened to brother?”

Di Fuyi had to pull her back. “Xuyue, stay where you are. Stand aside and watch.”

The mussel chimed in and asked, “Should I bring our young lady outside?”

The presence of a child could lead to unnecessary trouble. Therefore, the mussel thought that it would be better for the adults if little Xuyue were brought outside.

Di Fuyi disagreed. “There is no need for that. Let her stay.”

Gu Xijiu looked at him in bewilderment, so Di Fuyi explained himself, “Xuyue has to grow up. There is no need for us to keep her away from everything.” He then gave her hand a tight squeeze.

Quietly, Gu Xijiu agreed, for she understood that her husband was only trying to train their daughter to keep calm in situations such as the one they were facing.
