Why Did You Summon Me?

Chapter 140: Why Are All Your Talents so Weird?

For the trip, other than letting the girls do their shopping, Baiyi also needed to purchase some materials for his glider. The store that he was planning to visit was quite a distance from the shopping district that the girls wanted to go to, so after accompanying them for a short while, he gave Mia some money and asked them to shop for some clothing for Attie.

The girls had no objection to him leaving them alone as well. After all, it would be a little out of place having a man towering over them when they were shopping anyway. After putting the gold coins into her little kitty purse, Mia patted her chest and said confidently, "Don't worry, Mr. Hope. We'll dress Attie beautifully!"

Baiyi nodded. There was nothing that he needed to worry about at all. Attie was a natural beauty after all. Still, he did not forget to remind them just in case, "Attie is a servant , okay? Please keep that in mind when you are purchasing clothes for her. Make sure that they are suitable for work and the skirts should not be too short and the neckline should not be too low. Don't buy those clothing that will expose her back, too! Oh, yeah, and be careful yourselves, too! Don't randomly buy those snacks on the street and don't take any food from strangers, okay? Watch out for those perverted old men who might try to hit on you guys! Don't believe those salesman and since the weather is a little hot lately, don't walk under the sun for too long! Be careful of sunburn and heatstroke..."

He nagged non stop and before he could finish his words, Mia had already dragged Tisdale and Attie away from him.

Look at that attitude! Baiyi complained in the Void, Did I spoil her too much? I haven't even finished talking yet and she already ran away! Looks like I have to discipline her when they get back later!

"With all due respect, Sir Hope, I really can't stand this anymore!" The Assassin interjected all of a sudden, "I think you are starting to change from being a conservative dad to an oni chichi 1 now! This is getting a little out of hand... URGHHH!"

Before she could finish, Baiyi had already cast a Silence Spell on her.

Nonsense! Mia and I have a purely platonic Soul Armature and practitioner relationship, okay? Baiyi retorted as he turned and walked towards the timber market.

In truth, not many expensive materials were needed to make such a glider. When the Engineer was designing it, he had already taken the cost into consideration and chose to use cheaper materials like chinese fir and copper sheet. Those materials were cheap and easily found in the market but had a slightly average durability. Still, the glider did not have to last really long because they planned to market the glider as a consumable that would have to be constantly replaced.

Out of all the materials, the best material to be used to manufacture a glider was aluminium but unfortunately, the aluminium smelting industry had yet to exist in that world.

The magical materials that were needed to fly the gliders were also commonly found materials like the Mana Crystals. The key and skill laid with the launching formation that would launch the glider into the air and the guiding formation that would guide the flying course.

Both of the formations were designed after the Voidwalkers had entered the Void. Although those formations had never been tested before in an actual experiment, they had already undergone several episodic simulations and it should be quite reliable.

The crux of the matter laid in the fact that the two formations were uniquely owned by the Voidwalkers. If Baiyi decided not to teach it to anybody else, then there would not be a second person in the world who could create the formations. The elite technique was firmly in Baiyi's grasp.

Baiyi only needed to draw the formations on a parchment or something and the Dole family who planned to rely on the aerial transporting system to rebuild their family business would have to continue buying the formations from him even if they managed to imitate the gliders themselves. No matter how much money they earned from the air commercial route, part of it belonged to Baiyi as well.

Without a doubt, it would be a sustained source of income that could probably last forever. For that reason, during the trip, Baiyi spent all of his money on all sorts of materials and his last few golds on plants such as sunflowers, orchids and so on along with some vegetables, meats and eggs. After he was done with his shopping, there were practically no money left in his pocket.

Now that he had gotten everything that he wanted, Baiyi decided to go home first. The first thing he did was to take out all of the small animal coin banks and loosen the soils in the containers. After he had successfully transplanted the new seedlings that he just bought into them and watered them satisfactorily, he removed all of the wooden materials that were neatly stacked in his pouch at the mansion yard and began to process the woods using all sorts of magic.

He enjoyed the process very much and did not rush the process. Instead, as if creating a piece of artwork, he meticulously polished the coarse wood until not even a splinter could be seen on the surface.

Because of that, by the time Mia and the two girls got back from their shopping in the afternoon, he only managed to finish building the wings of the glider.

It seemed like Mia and Tisdale had a great time during their day out. They both had a cup of shaved ice in one hand and multiple bags of different sizes hanging on the other arm. It was apparent that they had made quite a number of purchases.

"I told you guys to cut down on cold stuff remember?" Baiyi shook his head helplessly. He put down his work and rearranged the wooden materials neatly by the corner before getting up and to help them with the shopping bags. A question flashed across his mind suddenly and he quickly asked, "Where's Attie?"

"Here..." Tisdale quickly moved aside and revealed the girl who was hiding behind her.

As requested by Baiyi, Attie had already changed into a servant's outfit which was much more conservative compared to what she used to wear before. The servant outfit that she was wearing was the most commonly seen style on the market. It was a simple black dress with a white apron. As it was still summer, they had bought her a short-sleeved dress, exposing both of her slender arms. The length of the skirt was fairly appropriate, long enough to cover both of her knees and her chest was also covered up although she had nothing to show in the first place.

All in all, the servant's outfit met Baiyi's requirements but... What's that thing on Attie's head? Why is she wearing a pair of freaking cat ears?

Ahem... Okay, fine. She seems to have become more lovely especially with such a shy look on her face right now.. . Under Baiyi's stare, Attie became even more flustered. She quietly peeked at Baiyi's reaction and swiftly turned her eyes away again in fear that he would see her gaze. Her behaviour made her look like a black little kitten that was in a new and foreign environment.

"We bought this because Attie thought it was quite cute!" Mia said as she pulled out another two pair of cat ears' pin from her pocket, "We also bought two pairs for ourselves!"

She handed one pair to Tisdale and quickly put on the ears. Tisdale followed suit and did the same thing.

How can you guys wear such a shameful thing on your head?! Baiyi yelled out in his mind watching the sudden appearance of three cute little kitties in front of his eyes. He had mixed feelings about it.

"Don't you think it's cute , Mr. Hope?" Mia chuckled as she proceeded to pull Baiyi's arms. Tilting her little head, she looked up towards him and " meowwwww " cutely.

Tisdale was even worse. She bent her body forward and put both of her hands in front of her chest with her hands folded to imitate cat paws. Lifting up her beautiful face, she followed Mia and "meow meow meow" multiple times.

Where the hell did you all learn this from? What is more important is... Why are you guys doing it so naturally and don't feel any shame at all? Please don't tell me that you guys are born with the gift to do this!

"F*CK IT! I'm dying! I'm totally dead now!" Several familiar voices suddenly shouted out in the Void, "Mia is the bomb!! Tisdale is the best ever! Look at that delicious Attie!"

...Ahem, okay... They are indeed very cute.. Baiyi had no choice but to admit it. Dejectedly, he reminded them, "Keep in mind that you can ONLY wear it in the house, okay? You guys will be laughed at if you wear this out..."

"Ehhh? Who says? The clothing shop owner and the tailor even praised us for being cute, you know!" Mia retorted quickly, " Oh yeah, wait a minute!" Mia seemed to remember something and quickly rummaged through her pocket before handing over a colorful, bright feather to Baiyi.

"This is for you, Mr. Hope. We searched for a long time before we finally found the right accessory for you."

Puzzled, Baiyi took the feather and carefully examined it. After a while, he asked, "I-Is this a peacock's feather?"

Unlike the peacocks on Earth, the peacocks here was a slightly larger bird that happened to share the same name with the ones on Earth. After reaching adulthood, the peacocks would grow three colourful and bright feathers that were suitable to be used as accessories. Of course, the price were not cheap, too.

Looking at the feather that had been specially processed to preserve its hardness and color, he did not know what he should do with it. Pin it on the chest perhaps?

"It's for you to pin on top of your head!" Mia told him by the side, "Now all of us have hair accessories!"

Baiyi was dumbfounded. He did not know whether he should laugh or cry by the absurdity of the whole situation. Hair accessory? With his grey armor and black cloak, the aura that he radiated was enigmatic and mysterious. How could the feather possibly match his outfit?

Still, since it was Mia who presented it to him, it would always be a good gift in his eyes. Without any hesitation, he pinned it on his helmet and just like that, all four of them in the house were donning some weird hair accessories. It was a good thing that they rarely had any visitors.

Quickly, Baiyi ushered them into the house, in fear that passersby would see them.

Attie was the one responsible for dinner. It was her first job as a servant. The meal that she prepared seemed quite presentable. With the ingredients that Baiyi brought back, she prepared a roasted rib, vegetable salad and a bowl of fish soup. Althought it might not look particularly sumptuous, it was more than enough for the three girls to fill their tummies. Mia and Tisdale were even surprised by the talent of their new friend.

By right, a Steppe Barbarian King would not know how to make Southern dishes, right?

"Before I became the king, I cooked all my meals myself," Attie explained, "During lunch earlier, I deliberately went to the kitchen of the restaurants to observe how they prepare the dishes."

There were hints of confidence and pride in her tone. It looked like her skill was quite good to be able to cook the dishes successfully just by observing the chefs once.

Then again, you're a king! Why are you so talented in cooking instead?
