He wanted to live on well.

Lu Yan looked above him at the dark skies, he had a sudden desire to live on. The darkness had already come, but was the light approaching yet?

He wasn’t willing to stay in the darkness anymore!

He wanted to go home!

He had a wife and son. He had a family. F*ck, if he were to die, his son wouldn’t be born and his wife would be taken away by some other man sooner or later.

He would revive and come out from his grave if this were to happen.

He wanted to go back!

This desire to live grew exponentially at a crazy speed, he lifted his bloody hands, pushing the tree squashing him away.

But he didn’t succeed.

His lower body was squashed under the tree and he could no longer feel anything in his lower body.

How was he going to push this mega tree away?

A cyclone suddenly came in his direction, taking all the broken branches on the ground with it. The tree started moving into the cyclone too.

F*ck, that’s it!

He had been waiting for such a golden opportunity!

Another cyclone struck and Lu Yan sat up with much difficulty. He took the chance and placed his hands on the mega tree, using all of his might to push it away.

In an instant, the muscles all over his body bulged and his face contorted into a frightening grimace as cold sweat poured down his forehead.

He gathered all of the strength he had left and let out a loud groan—-Ahh!

Bam! He had pushed the tree away.

He fell back onto the ground, taking in gasps of air.

He had succeeded.

He had finally succeeded.

He could finally go home!

Lu Yan tried to get up, but his entire lower body was numb. He couldn’t feel a thing in his lower body, he just couldn’t stand up.

His legs were bleeding and he couldn’t stand up.

However, this wasn’t going to stop him from going home.

Home. He began to crawl on the ground.

His palms sunk into the muddy ground but he continued crawling, leaving a bloody trail behind him.

The cold rain continued beating against him but his body was burning hot. He only had one purpose in his mind, to go home!

He had never once feared darkness and death. No one could ever defeat him. He had a stubborn life and even when he was stabbed in the heart, he could still continue to battle.

Who was he?

He was the Blood Eagle!

He was Lu Yan!

His entire mind was filled with that alluring face, of her placing her hand on her stomach while her eyes crinkled into a smile at him.

Her tender voice resounded in his ears—-Ah Yan, hurry up and come back. You’re a father, the baby and I are waiting for you.

The corners of his lips quirked up. “An’an.”

An’an.

He was calling her name.

She was the love of his life, he couldn’t ever bear to leave her. He could sacrifice his life for the nation, but he would also make sure to live on just for her.

He suddenly heard some abnormal sounds. Lu Yan lifted his head, something was rushing down. It was a dam burst.

The waves were just like a huge dragon coming in his way. Boom! Drowning him instantly...

Darkness.

He had been swallowed by the darkness.

With his lashes fluttering, it was hard not to lose focus, everything was a blur. He seemed to have seen a path of light in the water.

His parents were walking towards him, above that path of light. They were saying, son, you can go home now.

Home.

Lu Yan gradually closed his eyes.

...

On the other hand.

The luxury car parked in front of a house. An’an slumped against the car door, looking out of the car window at the jungle. She felt chilly.

Though she had Lu Yan’s coat draped over her body, the coat had lost all of his remaining body temperature. She stretched her arms out, hugging herself to give herself a little warmth.

“Why aren’t General Lu and the Blood Forces back yet? Look in front, the hurricane has consumed the entire jungle.”

“That’s right. Look, are General Lu and the Blood Forces... not able to come back?”...

They suddenly heard a cough from behind. Fu Qinglun had come.

The few gossipy people instantly lowered their heads guiltily. “Y-Young Master.”

Fu Qinglun gave them a cold-eyed glance. “Leave.”

“Yes.”

The few men quickly scurried away.

Fu Qinglun went in front, arriving beside An’an. The rain was heavy outside and the path had gotten all wet and muddy. “An’an, you should go inside. It’s cold here.”

An’an looked at the jungle in front. “Will they be back?”

Fu Qinglun raised his brows, looking at the jungle in front too. A few seconds later, he said affirmatively, “Yes, they definitely will!”

An’an smiled. “I believe in them too. They will definitely be back, with not even one person missing!”

“Look, I can see someone!”

An’an’s heart thumped wildly. They’re back?

She looked over, a group of men were on that muddy path, coming out of the darkness.

Her eyes glinted, they were really back!

They had come back!

She opened the car door, running out.

Li Si and the Blood Forces paused. They were all drenched and filthy, the rainwater, mud and even blood all over their bodies. Half an hour. It had taken them half an hour to come back.

Li Si placed Huo Yanmei down. “Now let’s take our attendance!”

The Blood Forces lined up in a row. One, two, three, four... eleven, twelve.

Li Si’s eyes were bloodshot, he stood up straight and saluted. “Report, General, the Blood Forces have full attendance! 12 men, not even one of us missing. We’ve come back safely!”

An’an glanced at them, all of them were back, not even one missing. She was delighted.

However...

She looked at them carefully. Wasn’t there... one person missing?

Where’s Ah Yan?

She lifted her eyes, looking behind. She started searching for that imposing figure.

He wasn’t here.

He hadn’t come back.

“Ah Yan.” An’an’s face turned as white as a sheet of paper. She murmured frantically, “Ah Yan, where’s my Ah Yan?”

“Sister-in-law, sorry!”

Jian Dao knelt down with a loud bang. He stretched his arms out, hugging her legs as he burst out into tears. “Sister-in-law, General couldn’t come back all because he wanted to protect us!”

Couldn’t come back?

These words seared into An’an’s mind. Her limbs became chilly, even her blood went cold. She went into a daze and felt so lost. W-What did he say, she couldn’t understand it.

Couldn’t come back? What did he mean?

“An’an.” Huo Yanmei held An’an’s cold hand, handing over the things that Lu Yan wanted her to give her. “An’an, Lu Yan wanted me to give you these.”

An’an lowered her eyes, it was that red string. She took it over, the diamond ring lying on her palm.

“An’an, this too. Lu Yan wanted to give you... this camellia.”

An’an lifted her eyes, looking at the camellia in Huo Yanmei’s hand. It was stained with blood, yet unusually beautiful.

He had never gifted her with flowers. This man wasn’t romantic and had never gifted anyone with flowers.

This was his first time.

An’an stretched her hands out, taking the camellia from Huo Yanmei.

“An’an, I’m sorry. It’s all Mom’s fault, Mom caused Lu Yan’s misfortune. I’m so sorry.”

“Sister-in-law, General’s gone. Our General’s gone.”...

By now, everyone was bawling, a myriad of voices talking to her at the same time. Apologies, condolences, she didn’t hear anything at all.

No...Ah Yan...

An’an felt her head spinning, her entire mind felt like it was going to explode.

She felt like a mess.

“That’s enough!” Holding the diamond ring and camellia in her hand tightly till it hurt, she screamed.

Everyone was stunned, looking at An’an in a daze.

An’an’s face was dry. She hadn’t shed a single drop of tear. She scanned everyone’s faces with those lustrous eyes and said, “Stop crying, I want to see his corpse before I believe that he’s dead! Wait until you find his corpse before you cry at his funeral!”
