Tang Hai stiffened, he pursed his lips and didn’t speak after that.

Qin Yawen recollected her memories from 21 years ago. Back then, she was still having a tryst with Han Dong in the Capital as she was about to go into labour. Tang Hai had found them and they had a huge fight. Her water broke and as the Han family was still a wealthy and influential family back then, they made use of their connections and sent her to the best hospital in the Capital. That day she gave birth to a baby girl, Lu Qi’er.

Since she had a smooth delivery, she was able to get down from her bed very quickly. As she walked out the door, she was drawn towards a huge commotion in the hospital. The Director and the department head of gynecology were on standby. A frantic man had run over with a pregnant woman in his arms.

The pregnant woman was sent into the delivery room and the man stood outside, left to wait anxiously. She took a secret glance at the man, she would never forget that moment, even after 21 years. That man was Tang Mo’er’s biological father, Lu Jinwen.

The Lu family was a wealthy and influential family that dated back a few generations. Old Master Lu, Lu Shaoming, married the biological granddaughter of the King of wineries, Ning Qing and they had two sons and one daughter. Lu Jinwen was the eldest son and a true prodigy, having inherited the outstanding business genes from the Lu family.

Lu Jinwen was granted direct admission to the Imperial College of London to study business economics and even set up an IPO in Singapore age of 16. He then signed a contract and maintained business relations with the greatest family in Singapore for the next ten years and from that, he created his own business empire.

Qin Yawen stood from afar and continued to stare at Lu Jinwen. Wearing a tailored black shirt with black trousers, he exuded a cold and dangerous aura, like that of a dark king. It was clear he was a man who belonged at the uppermost tip of a hierarchical pyramid.

For a man as successful as he was, she would have expected him to be impassive and detached when it came to love, but he was different. His handsome face was ridden with an indescribable expression, it was anxious, gentle and in eager anticipation, as he stood outside the doors and waited for the pregnant woman.

Qin Yawen was lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the woman, Tang Mo’er’s mother, Lin Xuanji. The woman had just given birth and wore a large striped hospital gown. As she was carrying Tang Mo’er in her arms, with the way she gazed lovingly down at the baby in her arms, it was hard to look away. It wasn’t clear whether it was because of her motherly love, or her beautiful face, but under the rays of the sun, she was dazzling and radiant.

Although Lin Xuanji had given birth, she kept Lu Jinwen outside. The young master of the Gu family, Gu Mohan, was already ten years old back then. That day, Gu Mohan coincidentally had a high fever and Mrs Gu, Huo Yanmei, as well as Gu Tianling, brought Gu Mohan to the hospital to see a doctor. Instead of taking care of his sick son, Gu Tianling stood outside Lin Xuanji’s doors that day.

The masters of the two of the wealthiest and most influential families in the Capital were crazy over Lin Xuanji. This woman indeed enjoyed the love and doting every women on earth could only dream of.

Perhaps the heavens were jealous of her beauty, Lin Xuanji passed away at a young age.

The beginning of it all, happened in the Capital’s hospital. 21 years ago. Huo Yanmei had approached Tang Hai regarding a switch of babies. Qi’er would be taken care of by the Lu family, while Mo’er would be with the Tang family. Tang Hai had agreed to her terms.

As a result of the agreement, Huo Yanmei made use of all her connections to enable Tang Hai to rise through the ranks and become the Mayor of Karghalik.

Tang Hai had also withdrawn from his recollection. With a heavy sigh, he shut his eyes and murmured, “That decision is the one decision I will forever be regretful about.”

After he had said his piece, he picked up his blazer and walked towards the doors.

“Tang Hai, please don’t leave!” Qin Yawen hugged Tang Hai from behind.

Tang Hai froze, he then shouted in an indifferent tone, “Mrs Han, let go!”

“I’m not letting go, Tang Hai, do you really not love me anymore? I don’t believe you. I know I’m still the one you love the most.”
