There was a twinge of sadness in Lu Jinwen’s heart. He felt that she was like this colorful dandelion. She was going to be blown away and he could not catch hold of her at all.

He walked ahead, extended his strong arm and held her in his embrace.

His soft lips kissed her silky hair repeatedly. He had almost used all his strength to embrace her, as if he could not wait to assimilate her into his flesh and bone. He buried his head in her neck and muttered in a hoarse voice, “Xuanji, how did we become like this?”

Lin Xuanji just stood there without moving. Her hands were hanging down by her sides and she did not hug him back. A small curve crossed her red lips. “We’ve both made mistakes, and so we’ve both paid the consequence of wasting half of our lives.”

The consequence of wasting half of their lives was undeniably tragic.

Both of them had fought ferociously against each other when they were younger. They had spent the time meant for loving each other in meanless battle. Both of them were wrong, and both of them were the only losers in the end.

Lu Jinwen embraced her tightly and he said, “All these years, there’s one sentence that I’ve never said before. If I’ve said it earlier, perhaps we would be living a different kind of life now. Xuanji, I love you. My love for you has never changed all these years and I’ve never stopped loving you.”

He had many regrets in the past, but he had never wavered in his love for her before. He was a remarkable man and dominated over the commercial sector. He had never thought that he would fall in love with someone else, and that this person could make him obsessed and infatuated.

The love that he had given her was complete and it had never slipped away.

He loved her.

Lin Xuanji was in a momentary daze as she listened to him. A film of tears gradually formed in her beautiful and gentle eyes. He said that he loved her.

“Xuanji, what about you? Do you still love me?”

He asked her.

Lin Xuanji’s long lashes quivered. “Do you still remember the Passion River at Miaojiang?”

Lu Jinwen froze. He knew that she had condemned him to the death sentence.

Indeed, the woman’s delicate voice entered his eardrums. “You were my faith. Everyday I chased after you hoping that one day you would stop in your tracks and tell me that you loved me. Today you finally said that you love me, but there’s no feeling in my heart anymore.

“Actually, love is the most delicate and fragile masterpiece in the world. How many setbacks can a woman’s love take? My love for you has been exhausted, broken and shattered… until there’s nothing left now.”

She no longer loved him.

With that, Lin Xuanji pushed him away.

Lu Jinwen stepped backwards. He watched as the love of his life turned around and left.

She had left.

She had left, just like that.

Lu Jinwen’s eyes were bloodshot and a self-derogatory smile played on his lips. Many years ago, had she also seen him leave like this in front of her too?

Did she feel lonely, lost and helpless like how he was feeling now?

He did not know what to do.

His world had gone haywire.

Lu Jinwen walked out and Butler Ye respectfully opened the door. He hunched his body to get into the car.

“Jinwen, wait for me!” At this moment, Lin Xuanyin ran out.

Butler Ye glanced at Lu Jinwen. Lu Jinwen merely waved his hand impassively. Butler Ye stepped aside.

Lin Xuanyin ran over. Her heart was hurting and her face was as white as a sheet of paper. She fell at the door of the luxury car, but she continued to crawl forward.

The backseat car door was open and Lu Jinwen was indolently leaning against the seat. His handsome features emanated a cold, murderous rage. Lin Xuanyin raised her head and she could only see the man’s tailored trousers.

Now she was crawling on the ground like an ant, and he was still the highly superior Emperor.

Lin Xuanyin extended her hand and tugged on his trousers slowly. “Jinwen, save me. My heart hurts. Please let me have the transplant. I don’t want to die…”

Lu Jinwen’s face was expressionless as he looked down upon her. “How was it so coincidental that you appeared at Bangkok Number 7 and saved me so many years ago?”

Lin Xuanyin startled and her gaze instantly became evasive. “I… I don’t know either…”

“Ha.” Lu Jinwen forced out a sinister laughter from his throat. He raised his leg and kicked her ruthlessly.

Lin Xuanyin collapsed onto the ground.

“Jinwen.” Just then, Old Master Lin ran over with the contract in his hand. He gave two solicitous laughs. “Jinwen, although there was a little blunder today, you’ve promised that Lu Corporation would invest in DHA. Please look through this contract and we can sign it if there are no problems.”

Old Master Lin was only concerned about his own benefits.

As Old Master Lin stood by the car, he handed the contract to Lu Jinwen, but Lu Jinwen did not stretch his hand out to take it. He dangled a cigar nonchalantly on his lips, hunched his body slightly and lit up his cigar.

The flame on the cigar danced as he quietly exhaled a puff of smoke. “Old Master, did you change Bangkok Number 1 to Bangkok Number 7?”

Old Master Lin startled and his gaze collided with the man’s. The man’s cold almond-shaped eyes were fixed on his face through the smoke, and his gaze was filled with malevolent rage. That expression made Old Master Lin feel that he was pushed into an abyss. He felt as if a demon was eying him.

Today, the truth about Bangkok Number 1 had slipped out a little. Lu Jinwen, for all his astuteness, had not realized the truth because he had been completely absorbed in Lin Xuanji’s love.

Once this man became aware of the truth, he would be like the king of beasts who had suddenly opened its eyes after lying low in the forest. He would pounce ferociously and tear everyone apart.

Old Master Lin swiftly denied and even put on a self-righteous expression. “Jinwen, what do you mean? Xuanyin and Xuanji are both my daughters. How can you possibly suspect me?”

Lu Jinwen smoked his cigar quietly and looked at Old Master Lin. “It’s best that you’ve nothing to do with this. Old Master, you should know that there’s nothing that I, Lu Jinwen, hate more than being plotted against by others. I’ll investigate the incident with Bangkok Number 1. If I find out who has played me out like this, he will suffer a fate that’s worse than death.”

Gulp. Old Master Lin was perspiring profusely. He did not doubt the slightest, the authenticity of Lu Jinwen’s words. Lu Jinwen had been known for his ruthless and heartless ways of handling matters, and he could easily strike fear in people’s hearts.

“Jinwen, you’ll have to believe me. It wasn’t me. And this contract…”

Lu Jinwen glanced down at the contract. He reached out for it with the hand that was holding the cigar, and the flame on the cigar instantly set the contract on fire.

Upon seeing that the contract was burnt, Old Master Lin’s expression changed. “Jinwen, you promised to invest in DHA. This is your divorce alimony to Xuanyin. Are you thinking of breaching your promise?”

Lu Jinwen gradually curved his thin lips into a malicious smile. “So what if I breach my promise? I’ve given alms to the beggar for so many years, and now the beggar is audacious enough to be arrogant in front of me?”
