Chapter 1011 Danger—Xu Youning Is in Danger (2)

After a moment, Xu Youning and Kang Ruicheng returned to the room.

Mumu ran over with uncertainty and expectation on his little face. “Daddy, Auntie Youning, have you come to an agreement?” he asked.

Xu Youning motioned for Kang Ruicheng to tell the little guy as she was not so articulate in such matters.

“Yes, we have,” answered Kang Ruicheng.

“Then what’s your decision?” Mumu blinked and waited expectantly.

“We decided to take Auntie Youning to the hospital a few days later.” Kang Ruicheng paused and deliberately asked the little guy, “So what do you think?”

“Auntie Youning is always right!” Mumu said seriously. Apparently, he obeyed Xu Youning unconditionally.

Kang Ruicheng was speechless.

He didn’t know if it was good or bad that Mumu was so obedient toward Xu Youning.

A short while later, Ah Jin came over and asked, “Brother Cheng, if you have picked the hospital for Ms. Xu, do you need me to make some investigations first to ensure her safety?”

It seemed that Ah Jin was really caring about Xu Youning and did not have any other dire purpose in mind.

Naturally, Kang Ruicheng did not have any doubts. He handed Ah Jin a note and ordered, “Go and check out these doctors. Make sure they are dependable.”

“Okay.” Ah Jin nodded. “I’ll do it right away.”

Ah Jin was about to leave when he suddenly thought of something and asked, “Brother Cheng, can you tell me which hospital do these doctors work at? It will be much faster and easier if I know beforehand.”

“The Eighth People’s Hospital. They are all neuro doctors,” Kang Ruicheng said directly, “I have done some research and their Neurology Department is the best in City A besides the private hospital of Lu Enterprises.”

“Yeah, you made the right choice,” Ah Jin said. He looked at the time. “It’s getting late. I’ll leave now and I’ll let you know as soon as I get their information.”

“Go,” Kang Ruicheng waved his hand and replied.

Ah Jin glanced discreetly at Xu Youning before he left. No one noticed his gaze or knew what he was thinking.

After driving for a while, he stopped and quickly assembled another mobile phone quickly. He sent a text message to Mu Sijue, telling him that Kang Ruicheng had chosen the Eighth People’s Hospital.

He dismantled the phone at the same speed after the text was sent successfully and then restarted the car.

In the living room at the Kang family house.

As Kang Ruicheng and Xu Youning were no longer arguing about the doctor thing, the atmosphere in the room eased up a lot.

Xu Youning said brightly, “I’m hungry. Let’s eat breakfast.”

“Okay!” Mumu was the first to respond. He flew to the dining room and saw the seafood porridge that he loved most. “Auntie Youning, daddy, come here quickly!” he couldn’t help exclaiming.

Kang Ruicheng smiled. He looked at Xu Youning and held her hand as they walked to the dining room.

Xu Youning glanced at Kang Ruicheng’s hand and a strange feeling rose from the bottom of her heart.

She had heard that when people were really happy, they would, subconsciously, look at the person they loved or hold his/her hand tightly because they wanted to share their joy with that person.

“So, did Kang Ruicheng really love her?”

If he did, she thought it would be quite ridiculous…

After breakfast, Kang Ruicheng went out to work. Xu Youning and Mumu began to play games again.

In the afternoon, Mumu felt sleepy and wanted to take a nap, so Xu Youning took him back to the bedroom.

After coaxing him to sleep, Xu Youning sneaked into Kang Ruicheng’s study again while no one was looking.

If Mu Sijue really discovered everything she had hidden and was helping her secretly, she didn’t have much to worry about.

She could take the files she copied a few days ago to the hospital and find an opportunity to ask the doctor to hand them to Mu Sijue.

If Mu Sijue was helping her, he must have reached an agreement with the doctor whom she could totally rely on.

However, the files alone were not enough evidence to implicate Kang Ruicheng to the extent that he would be charged with the death penalty.

She needed more evidence.

Xu Youning searched thoroughly in the study. She was so intent on her search that she didn’t even notice Kang Ruicheng had returned home with Ah Jin following him.

Kang Ruicheng knew Xu Youning and Mumu’s routine very well: they usually played games in the living room at this time.

But today, they were not there.

Kang Ruicheng stopped a servant and asked, “Where is Ms. Xu and Mumu?”

“They were playing games just now.” The servant thought for a few seconds and continued, “But Mumu said he was sleepy, so Ms. Xu should have taken him to have his nap.”

“Okay,” said Kang Ruicheng with his eyes lowered. Then he went upstairs without saying anything more.

Judging from the direction he went, he should be headed for the study.

Ah Jin suddenly had a bad feeling when he thought of something.

In an instant, Ah Jin decided to race up from another stairway that led to Xu Youning’s room directly.

In order not to be noticed by Kang Ruicheng, Ah Jin decided to push the door open directly without knocking.

When his hand was still on the handle, Mumu opened the door from the inside.

Xu Youning was not there!

Ah Jin pressed Mumu’s shoulder and asked in a worried voice, “Mumu, where is Auntie Youning? Is she in the room?”

Mumu shook his head and said while yawning, “I don’t know. I haven’t seen her since I woke up.”

Ah Jin fervently wished that Xu Youning was in the room.

However, what Mumu said made him feel as if someone had poured a bucket of ice water over him, which made him freeze from head to toe.

The most possible place Xu Youning could be at was the study if she was not in the bedroom.

Kang Ruicheng was already walking toward the study. How could Xu Youning make it out?

How could he help Xu Youning?

Ah Jin was right. Xu Youning was in the study.

She searched carefully around without finding anything useful. Finally, she fixed her eyes on the bookshelf—

“Were there any useful information hidden in it?”

Xu Youning scanned the bookshelf and her eyes rested on an old disk box. She took it out and found a CD game inside.

“Was this what Kang Ruicheng used to play when he was young?”

But to be honest, he didn’t look like a man who liked playing games.

While Xu Youning was thinking, she heard the door opening.

“Was Kang Ruicheng back?”

Xu Youning felt a chill run down her spine. She looked back and saw Kang Ruicheng standing outside the study with a sullen look.

What terrible luck!

“Didn’t Kang Ruicheng always stay out late? Why did he come back so early today?”

Xu Youning calmly took a deep breath and looked at Kang Ruicheng as if nothing had happened. She scrutinized his expression as if she didn’t know why he was unhappy.

She knew, of course.

Kang Ruicheng’s study held all his secrets. No one could enter this room without his permission, even for those who were close enough to him, like herself and Dongzi.

But she was here, with something in her hand at such a sensitive time. No wonder Kang Ruicheng was irritated.

Fortunately, she was just holding a game disk. She could cover up her real purpose with a reasonable excuse.

If it had been an important document, it would not be a good ending for her.

She looked at Kang Ruicheng calmly and asked, without putting down the disk, “Why are you back so early today?”

Kang Ruicheng kicked the door open and strode in in a grave look. “A Ning, why are you here?” he questioned her.

Xu Youning, as if she just noticed Kang Ruicheng was very angry, put down the disk and apologized, “Sorry, I came in without your permission.”

She was not flustered at all as if it was just a common situation.

Things were not at their worst yet. She could still disguise her nervousness. At this time, if she started panicking, her secret would be disclosed.

Kang Ruicheng ignored Xu Youning’s apology. He looked as if he could kill someone in the next second. “Answer me! What are you doing here!” he roared.

Xu Youning took a deep breath and kept stepping back. She seemed to be frightened by Kang Ruicheng, yet she was not too overwhelmed by his anger.

She couldn’t show any signs of panic.

At this time, any sign of guilt would arouse Kang Ruicheng’s suspicions!

“I…”

While Xu Youning was thinking up of an excuse, Mumu bounded in like a little kangaroo and asked, “Auntie Youning, have you found it?”

Xu Youning did not react. She looked at the little guy, her brain working quickly as she pondered over his words.

Mumu skipped in and took the disk. “Wow, you found it. You’re great!” he shouted.

The little guy looked happy and excited, but Xu Youning remembered very clearly that he was still sleeping before she left the room. He didn’t ask her to find anything.

Although she did not know what was actually going on, Xu Youning thought it was a good opportunity to deceive Kang Ruicheng.

She nodded and said, “Yeah, I just found it.”

“Then why are you still here?” Mumu pulled Xu Youning with all his strength. “Quick! Let’s play downstairs!”

Xu Youning didn’t move but looked at Kang Ruicheng.

Seeming to just notice Kang Ruicheng, Mumu tilted his head and looked at him with a strange expression. “Daddy, why did you come back so early?” he asked.

Kang Ruicheng didn’t relax at all. He looked at Mumu sulkily and asked, “What do you mean? Did you ask Auntie Youning to look for something here?”

“Yes, I wanted to play other games, so I asked Auntie Youning to look upstairs.” Mumu blinked and looked afraid and innocent. “Daddy, are you angry?”

Kang Ruicheng did not respond. His face darkened and he was probably doubting Mumu’s words.

Mumu walked over to hug Kang Ruicheng and rubbed his head against his leg. “Daddy, don’t be mad at Auntie Youning. She didn’t come in here on purpose…”

Kang Ruicheng looked at Xu Youning and said, “Why didn’t you tell me Mumu asked you to come in?”
