Divine Emperor of Death

chapter-3858
"Now then."
Davis cast his gaze at Rokushi Mirai, "I am hoping you will give it to me without causing trouble. If you accept, I promise I will return it after I finish using it."
"To save your friends?"
"…"
"How kind." Rokushi Mirai frowned, "Are you really the calamity people speak of? If not, you don't deserve this treasure.""That is not for you to decide."
Davis scoffed before he reached out his hand and flicked his sleeve, "Now choose. If I steal it, I won't be giving it back to you. You should know that I at least keep my word."
"Ridiculous. Your words don't amount to much when you're hiding for survival, just as I am. Without this, I cannot survive, so leave before I kill you with this treasure."
"You seriously think death energy would work on me?" Davis smirked.
"Why don't you try attacking me?"
However, Rokushi Mirai dared him, her expression turning deranged, "You're just an Immortal King, Even if you have consumed those grand pills, your prowess will never reach the Empyrean Stage. As for your trump card, let's see who has the best one. I'm not giving it to you, no matter what."
She sneered. In his disguise, he barely showed a prowess that exceeded two levels above Level Nine Immortal Emperor Stage. Reaching that level alone as an Immortal King was extraordinary, as he managed to cross an entire stage, but she didn't believe it was his own strength, as she guessed he was already using his trump card like she was.
She guessed that he used this trump card even back then to overpower the major powers of the First Haven World. Other than his terror, she was also aware he employed a lot of deception to fool his enemies.
There was no way she was falling prey to one of his deceptions.
"Well then-"
Davis took a step forward in the air, "Don't blame me for being ruthless."
"Die!~"
Rokushi Mirai moved at the same time, her cold voice resounding across the cold and dreary cave. She showed no signs of hesitation, striking him with all her might from the get-go.
Davis inwardly nodded.
She really didn't fear him. The fact that she crossed the ninth step of the Stairway of Regression spoke volumes about her fearless nature.
*Bzzz~*
The black-white stone abruptly began radiating a sense of gloom and death, casting a shadow over the already eerie atmosphere. The air grew thick with despair and malice as the deathly mist sought to envelope Davis.
However, as soon as this energy came into contact with him, Rokushi Mirai's eyes abruptly widened into two bright saucers. Her body jolted with an electrified feeling, as if a surge of electricity had coursed through her veins. It stemmed from her very own soul, as she saw a pair of deathly eyes looking at her from the abyss, causing her to momentarily lose all control of her body.
The sudden shock caused her to lose her balance. She stumbled forward a few steps.
Davis, sensing the change in energy, quickly moved forward.
*Silasila~!*
Abruptly, the sounds of chains echoed, and a long extension of chains swung around Rokushi Mirai, quickly enveloping her. The chains exuded deathly energy that cut off all forms of energy in her body, bringing a stop to her circulation as well as sealing her dantians.
"You!-"
Rokushi Mirai looked at him in shock, blood dripping out of her lips as it dropped to her bosoms. Her gaze couldn't be anymore disoriented as her gray pupils dilated, not understanding what had just happened.
Perhaps she did, but her mind refused to accept it.
After all, the connection she shared with the treasure was cut off without any warning whatsoever.
Davis tied her up and firmly pulled on the chains as he made a knot with them, sealing her movements.
This chain was none other than the one he stole from the Divine Inquisitors from the Reincarnation Dimension. He knew it would be of great help one day, and it was soon showing its use.
Even a Peak Empyrean probably wouldn't be able to break its seal with how sturdy the chains were.
In fact, he was planning to assassinate Autarch Yulan Nazarin with this chain given the chance, but changed his mind and adopted a wait-and-see approach until he reached here.
"It's truly a bad day for you. I am your worst opponent the moment you choose to use this treasure against me."
Davis patted her shoulder and made her stand up as he shot her a strange smile.
If Rokushi Mirai had decided to use her own strength, he was probably a goner, but knowing not to underestimate him, she didn't leave any leeway, completely trying to eradicate him with the life-death attributed treasure possibly made from the Tablet of Life and Death.
Fallen Heaven was theorized to be the fused form of the Tablet of Life and Death and the Thread Essence of Karma, so Davis thought it would have authority over it, and it was as he expected. The moment he came into contact with its energy, he was able to sever her connection with the treasure using Fallen Heaven.
In fact, he already felt it during the flight battle but didn't use it since Autarch Yulan Nazarin was still there. At that very moment, he decided to jump off while acting like he was thrown off in order to obtain this treasure from Rokushi Mirai.
"You really tried to kill me, didn't you? Then it is only right that I return the favor."
"…!"
Rokushi Mirai bit her lips, trying to force out her energy, but it was of no use. However, a fist landed on her stomach, causing a bone-cracking, flesh-churning sound to echo as she bent forward.
*Pui~*
She spat a mouthful of blood, her eyes bulging, before a wave of pain spread across her stomach. A surge of blood climbed up to her throat again, making her blood drip from her mouth in copious amounts.
She didn't know when she last received an injury like this. It felt like her innards were going to collapse.
However, she was suddenly shaken and made to stand straight again.
She couldn't understand. Her physical prowess was supposed to be at the Empyrean Stage. How was he harming her body? Did the chains even have the effect of weakening her body?
"You won't ask for mercy?"
Davis's voice was cold. He readied his fist again, the knuckles coated in chaotic energy. He had used his full power to strike and looked like he was going to do it again.
"Kill me…"
Rokushi Mirai glared at him. She looked resilient without a single hint of fear in her eyes, despite the pain flashing across her face.
"As you wish."
The next thing she knew, a palm headed for her face, and her vision went dark as her consciousness sank into the depths of her soul.
She fell into the arms of the Divine Emperor of Death, utterly unconscious.
Davis shook his head. Despite her prowess being above the Immortal Emperor Stage yet having her cultivation sealed, throwing her into his life ring might be possible, but he wasn't willing to take the risk.
He wasn't going to have his life ring broken.
That said, he didn't want to kill her either, as she might prove to be useful even if it worked as bait.
Autarch Yulan Nazarin knew how strong she was, so he could form a crusade against her after delivering Clara to the Obsidian Crystal Turtle Minor Realm, where she would be safe.
Then again, he didn't want to throw someone into the lion's den without hearing them out. After all, he returned the favor by breaking her ribs and causing her organs some damage. He wasn't going to let it heal until she understood it wasn't wise to have shown her fangs against him. At the same time, he thought of giving her a chance to redeem herself.
"…"
While he was thinking about what to do with her, the two assassins who were left were deathly silent.
Just what the fuck happened? How did the battle end just as it started?
