Divine Emperor of Death
-
chapter-3859
Clara walked out of the hidden cabin in the flying ship, walking out with Xiaolan and another unknown man whom she couldn't tell who he was but remained calm since he exited from the Nine-Treasured Immortal Ordeal Palace and uttered that he would follow her in front of Autarch Yulan Nazarin.
Just as she exited the cabin, his finger made contact with her hand.
"Clara, don't be startled. It's me, Davis."
"…"
Clara was astonished, but she didn't show it in her face or her body. She heard another physical soul transmission."When the time comes for me to be discovered or when we have no choice but to part ways, you must refrain from getting back to me under any circumstances. I will come look for you, so until then, use everyone if you have to in order to stay safe."
"…"
Clara didn't respond, but she heard his words and took them to heart.
But as she saw him fall after crossing an entire realm, her heart sank as she shouted.
"No!"
She reached out her hand and stepped forward, wanting to jump from Xiaolan, but Autarch Yulan Nazarin stopped her. She was shielded from the attacks of the assassins and Rokushi Mirai as Xiaolan frantically made her way out of the cave.
Clara struggled to break free, but she didn't open her mouth, knowing she shouldn't say anything about Davis. But soon, they were out of the underground cave and entered other pathways leading to the exit. The attacks also stopped at this point, causing Autarch Yulan Nazarin to finally look at her.
"Are you fine, your majesty?"
Clara took a deep breath to calm herself. Never had she felt so bad since she had basically abandoned her brother there. Although he told her not to follow him if they were to be separated, she was not willing.
Every wisp in her soul screamed at her to go towards him and rescue him.
However, the confusion in her mind was still there.
'Is that really brother? But… he did say he was brother. I hope he's safe.'
What if that person didn't turn out to be her brother? Would she have exposed her family then? She really couldn't think properly and could only keep quiet until things calmed down.
"Yes, I'm fine. However, we should return and kill all of them."
"We will, your majesty." Autarch Yulan Nazarin nodded, "However, my highest priority is to protect you. As ashamed as I am to say it, I am not able to defeat Rokushi Mirai. The treasure in Rokushi Mirai's hands is not only strange but also something I have never seen before. It displayed tremendous power and limitless usage, despite the limitations of an Immortal Emperor being able to use an artifact of that grade."
"…"
Clara didn't say anything.
She remained silent, her brows frowning.
They exited the cave and appeared in the open skies, quickly using their flying boat to escape.
"Your Majesty, please don't worry. I can see that person was quite close to you. We will avenge his brave soul when the time is right. For now, we will head to the Obsidian Crystal Turtle Minor Realm as planned to witness the execution and perhaps even hunt the Divine Emperor of Death."
"Although it would be dangerous, there will be many strong Empyreans and Autarchs there. Even if the Heavenly Blight Hall or the Divine Emperor of Death wants to kill you, there's no way it would happen."
Autarch Yulan Nazarin waved his hand and went on his knees, "Your majesty, forgive me for not being able to save your servant. If you please, I am willing to be your retainer upon your enrollment in the Divine Sentinel Order, follow you to the ends of the universe, and shed this life for your majestic self."
"No need."
Clara quickly rejected him.
She turned around, looking up at the sky, "Life is fleeting, but loyalty and sacrifice are eternal. To be willing to give up one's own life for another is the ultimate act of admiration and devotion. The universe is vast and unpredictable, but in the face of death and danger, true loyalty shines through. Even in the darkest moments, that person stayed with me, but I'm not sure you can do the same. Even if you can, this is not the right time."
"Forgive my rudeness, your majesty!"
Autarch Yulan Nazarin looked astonished before he lowered his head. He didn't realize he was being insensitive, as he thought that his deference would make her pleased instead.
"It's fine."
Clara walked away to the cabin, but turning to look at Xiaolan on her shoulder, who was wounded by death energy, she narrowed her eyes.
"Think you can endure?"
"This is nothing. It's just at the level of scratches. That man is probably incapable of healing me, so don't worry."
Xiaolan cheerfully said, but her quivering body said another thing. Her tiny wings had patches of black, tainting her lovely icy-blue feathers. It looked horrible, but it also made her look quite pitiful, even diseased.
Clara pursed her lips.
She would love to heal Xiaolan, but it was possible that Autarch Yulan Nazarin might ask for some details from her regarding their background, which might possibly reveal their true status. Although Xiaolan was highly capable of lying, she was not exempt from scrutiny like she was since Xiaolan wasn't a Heaven's Warrior.
There was no telling what lengths Autarch Yulan Nazarin would go to in the pursuit of justice.
"I'm very sorry, Xiaolan. Please endure the pain for as long as you can. We can ask for some Mid-Stage Empyrean Grade Healing Pills for magical beasts when we reach the Obsidian Crystal Turtle Minor Realm."
"Mhm~"
Xiaolan hummed sweetly. She lowered her head slightly and shuddered ever so lightly.
Clara caressed Xiaolan's head before she entered her cabin and began resting.
Soon, they reached the northern border town, crossed the Whispering Wildlands Lower Realm without any mishaps, and continued their way to the Lightning Kirin Lower Realm and, subsequently, the Azure Tree Lower Realm.
They rarely faced trouble since their flying ship was at Autarch Grade, allowing them to breeze through the rest of the journey. It was as though the heavens were aiding them.
"…"
Davis came out of his reverie and focused on Rokushi Mirai in his arms, who was unconscious and vulnerable.
He removed her veil and saw her real face.
Her stunning beauty shone even in the dim light of the caves as her silver hair shimmered. She draped a black cloak around her shoulders. The delicate fabric contrasted with her ethereal appearance, making her seem like a mysterious enchantress who was badly injured in a gruesome battle.
His gaze shifted toward her cleavage, staying there for a moment before he looked at the assassins.
"Where do we leave?"
"This… we're heading to the Obsidian Crystal Turtle Minor Realm since we theorized you, the Divine Emperor of Death, might be heading there, but now that you're here, we may not need to head there. Then again, you were with our main target all this while, so you need to decide where we should go. Most likely, they'll head for the Obsidian Crystal Turtle Minor Realm since that's the safest place, right?"
"Right." Davis nodded, "I hope one of you has an Empyrean Grade Flying Ship and the necessary fuel to get there."
"We do, but the fastest ship is in her spatial ring. She killed a wealthy and corrupt realm official and luckily obtained it."
"Hmm?"
"Then why did you people not escape and instead went as far as to setup an ambush?"
The assassin shook his head, "We do not know. We guessed she may have been tired after being chased all the way from the Thorn-Vine Serpent Lower Realm to this realm and decided to fight back. Luckily, we managed to trap someone like our main target, but the fact that a powerful Autarch like that is accompanying her makes things more complicated. Hopefully, we can turn the tide with your grand presence."
'Yeah, right…'
Davis's lips curled.
There was no way he was letting anyone kill his little sister. However, he was together with Clara, and they practically looked like brother and sister, so he didn't know why they were not making the distinction yet.
Was it because Clara was veiled? Or did they not dare believe that an Anarchic Divergent could be blood related to a Heaven's Warrior of the highest order?
He didn't say anything and removed Rokushi Mirai's spatial ring. It didn't have much security, allowing him to forcefully inject his soul sense and get what he wanted. He ignored the mountain of corpses, knowing that she would probably use it to learn Death Laws, and took the flying ship out before storing it in his own.
He also stripped her of her life ring and waved his hand.
"Let's go."
Carrying her with his soul force, Davis followed the two assassins in the opposite direction and made it to the other side. It seemed like they had multiple escape routes prepared, making him appreciative of their plans to assassinate some justice seekers.
