Chapter 191: Target, Su Huiqing
“Wait a minute, I’ll tell you.” One of the seniors spoke up in a hoarse voice after suffering an accidental kick by Qu Yan.
“The other seniors are about the same level as us. But you have to be careful of Mo Qiu and Dugu Wu. They are the most talented students to graduate this year, and have been specially selected by the principal to guard checkpoint 42…”
Mo Qiu?
Su Huiqing lowered her eyes slightly. The class monitor of the 110th Class S. She remembered him.
She was the one who had led that class during their group training.
Several years had gone by in a flash. From the looks of it, Mo Qiu was doing pretty well.
Su Huiqing touched the brim of her helmet and shot those Class S seniors a look. “Alright, you guys can leave.”
The bunch of freshmen at the side were still completely dumbstruck.
Several Class S seniors went quiet for a bit, before turning again to look at Su Huiqing and the gang. They descended the mountain full of mixed emotions.
One of them took a selfie before posting it on his social media with the caption: Damn, those freshmen are just demonic. We were bombed to bits!Seconds later.
“You guys are just too weak. Being tortured by those freshmen into such a wretched state?” Those back at Monster University, who had no idea of the real situation, were somewhat shocked.
“What a major joke. Little brothers just wait and see, your sisters will take revenge for you!” The female seniors who were in charge of the next checkpoint posted in ridicule.
Someone stationed at mid-mountain took a puff of his cigarette and typed on his keyboard. “Damn, you guys can’t even handle a bunch of freshmen? You all should repeat your training all over again…”
“…”
The person who posted the selfie continued to read the comments, subconsciously massaging his still-aching shoulder. He smiled diabolically. “All these people are just shamelessly boasting. Just wait until they encounter this batch of freshmen. They will finally know what it feels like to fall flat on their faces.”
…
The sky was gradually turning bright.
The man smoking at mid-mountain tossed his cell phone aside and sighed. “So humiliating!”
“From what they described, those freshmen do seem to have some abilities.” His teammate rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
“I need to see it for myself. But almost no one has ever made it to checkpoint 35.” The man took a puff of his cigarette and shook his head. “Let’s pack up. We will probably be able to descend the mountain soon.”
“Oh… you guys can indeed descend the mountain soon.” Su Huiqing strolled over with her team.
Facing the rising sun, she slowly lifted her head.
That face was as pristine and clear as always.
The man with the cigarette was taken aback. He surveyed Su Huiqing and her team. “Freshmen?”
Su Huiqing didn’t answer but just casually took a few more steps. She took up the list of criteria required for this checkpoint, her lips curling up in a smile. “Eh, this checkpoint is easy. We just need to beat them up.”
Right after she said those words, Yu Xiangyang and the gang rolled up their sleeves and stepped forward.
“You are indeed arrogant!” The man tossed his cigarette butt aside, a cold smile forming on his face. But his deep eyes were filled with displeasure.
The two sides started to fight.
Su Huiqing leaned casually against a tree. She took out a hand-drawn map and started to make some adjustments to the details of the next checkpoint.
According to the revelations by that senior, the next checkpoint’s criteria was camaraderie…
Her usual gang was fine.
But Ye Zeyu and the other two new folks might be a little tricky.
After one year of training, Yu Xiangyang and the gang easily gained the upper hand in the fight. They even wanted to show off some fancy moves to dazzle Ye Zeyu.
The more punches and kicks that man endured, the more shocked he became.
He knew that he was no match for these freshmen, and so attempted to target their leader first. It was clear that Su Huiqing was their leader.
He flipped around and aimed his weapon at Su Huiqing.
Su Huiqing narrowed her eyes and instantly kicked his weapon out of his hands!
She folded up her paper and shoved it in her pocket.
She then reached out and caught the weapon!
The ice-cold blade was pressed against the man’s neck.
She lowered her eyes and raised her eyebrows indifferently. “Pack things up. Prepare to head over to the next checkpoint.”
The man was filled with disbelief. Soon after, a video was sent over. The senior who had first posted about the freshmen mocked mercilessly. “Haha! Look at you fools. How was your encounter with those freshmen? Are your faces swollen yet?”
Su Huiqing led her team through checkpoint after checkpoint.
It was nightfall by the time they reached the 40th checkpoint.
At the bottom of the mountain, the instructors watching the surveillance footage were discussing amongst themselves. “These seven new freshmen are truly formidable.”
“Indeed.” The commander continued staring at the screen with glittery eyes. More accurately, he was staring at Su Huiqing. “I really wish to poach her over to the special forces.”
Leaving such a skilled professional behind at Monster University was a waste of talent.
“Ai, commander.” One of the instructors raised his brows in question. “Didn’t you state earlier that such arrogant students would never be able to pass even the 20th checkpoint?”
The commander was taken aback.
He then laughed out loud.
Indeed.
He had been prejudiced against Su Huiqing because of Bertha’s incident. He thought that she was so arrogant only because she had the Yu Family’s backing.
And so when that team passed the first checkpoint, he had commented. “They are too eager to succeed. I bet that they won’t be able to pass even the 20th checkpoint.”
But now, Su Huiqing had led her team past 39 checkpoints.
They were already going for the 40th checkpoint now.
At the thought of this, the commander’s eyes wavered as he looked at Su Huiqing with renewed respect.
There was nothing else to it. It was just that the International Association had always respected power.
He was thinking of whether to report this to Captain Bai and then poach Su Huiqing over.
Right at this moment, he suddenly received a call from Captain Bai.
Bai Yi’s voice was placid as always but filled with gravity. “Get me Mr. Yu.”
From his grave voice, the commander instantly knew that this was a serious matter. Yu Shijin had returned to the team early this morning, all decked out in his instructor’s uniform.
“You were looking for me?” Yu Shijin accepted the video call.
He gazed calmly at Bai Yi, his face as handsome as cold as always.
Bai Yi was standing in front of the International Battlefield, his eyes very grim. “I need your help with this. When we were investigating the laboratory, we received news that the Dark Angels will be making a major move tonight. The target is a bunch of freshmen, with one of them as their number one target.”
He was now at the International Battlefield.
He would not be able to hurry back in time.
But the wilderness training grounds were provided by the military base. He could not afford to let any freshmen come to harm there.
He had experienced Yu Shijin’s prowess previously at the International Battlefield.
He was not called the top commander for nothing.
Yu Shijin lifted his eyes. “Number one target?”
His voice was brimming with danger.
He wasn’t being biased, but among those freshmen, the only one who could be a number target was…
Yu Shijin knew it couldn’t be anyone else but her.
“It concerns the experiment subject, so you know how important this is.” Bai Yi’s voice was very grave. “I will try my best to hurry back. If need be, follow the vines to their old hiding place.”
Yu Shijin logged off the video call and lowered his eyes, concealing the bloodthirsty look in them. The room was empty apart from him, and his words echoed in the air. “Experiment subject.”
Those deep eyes churned with emotions.
Before fading away into an icy chilliness.
He took out his cell phone and called the commander. “Call all of them back.”
Before leaving, he suddenly thought of something.
He dialled a familiar number as he walked up the mountain.
Su Huiqing was at the 42nd checkpoint.
Mo Qiu was looking at her through narrowed eyes, so dark that there was no way of telling what he was thinking.
Until a cell phone rang.
She glanced down. It was Yu Shijin. She knew he would not bother her unnecessarily, and so picked up the call. “What?”
His voice was much lower than usual. “Where are you?”
Su Huiqing scanned her surroundings. “Checkpoint 42.”
“Keep this call connected. We need to talk.” Yu Shijin’s voice was calm.
But a deadly cold undercurrent ran beneath that calm.
Su Huiqing could tell he was not joking at all, and that something must have happened.
“Are you going to pass this checkpoint or not?” Dugu Wu was standing beside Mo Qiu, staring at Su Huiqing and team with a hostile and impatient expression. “Don’t waste my time, I have other things to do.”
Su Huiqing put on her earpiece. She pressed down on her helmet and spoke in a low voice into the earpiece. “Alright, I will wait for you.”
Hearing her words, Dugu Wu raised his brows and started to say something.
But at this moment, a familiar smell drifted over.
This scent…
Su Huiqing’s eyes narrowed. She would never forget this smell.
This was a scent that could paralyze one’s nerves. This smell had accompanied her in that laboratory for 10 years.
She reached up and pressed her earpiece.
At the same time, she realized why Yu Shijin was looking for her.
The other hand was tightly clenched.
She was able to hold her breath.
But she had failed to find this laboratory even after spending so much time and effort. Now that it had suddenly appeared, she could not let go of this opportunity.
Those 10 years.
During which her companions had died, one after another.
As well as Angie, who had wished to know her earlier.
Su Huiqing lowered her gaze, her eyes completely pitch-black. She glanced at her cell phone before cutting off her connection to Yu Shijin…
