--Bonus Chapter 2/13--
When Rain woke next, she was met with a pair of eyes looking down at her causing her to blush. She opened her mouth and wanted to try to explain but found a finger pressed against her lips. "I will go make breakfast. Then we will redress your wounds again."
"Mm..." Rain nodded. She felt the warmth of Alex's hand release hers and his body heat disappear as he got up off the bed. Once he left the room, she slumped down under the covers to hide her embarrassment. She put a hand on her beating heart as a realization from deep within her surfaced. "I have fallen for him!?" Just this thought alone made Rain want to squeal just thinking about it. Her of all people. Out of the three sisters, it would be she that would have her heart stolen by a man.
She knew Yana was obsessed with growing stronger while Angelica was obsessed with the soul. She had nothing she cared about besides growing stronger so she could stand next to her sisters. But now, she couldn't lie to her heart. She finally found what she wanted. But she was unsure if Alex would accept her…
The air around the two seemed a little off as they ate and more so when it came to cleaning and redressing her wounds. Alex was trying hard to keep a straight face as Rain slid her robe off so he could treat her. It was not until he was fully done and went to stand up that he felt a tug on his hand. He turned and looked at Rain only to feel something soft and slightly damp touch his lips before quickly retreating. He froze. His brain seemed to have malfunctioned as all kinds of explosions went off in his mind.Rain's face was also beat red as she was there with no way of running away. After a long while, she finally said: "Say something..."
"Ah… Yes.. Umm… Soft..." Alex's mind was really not functioning correctly. He had no idea what he was even saying. "No! I mean… Ahh..." Scratching his head, he looked at Rain as he leaned down and kissed her lips. "This is what I mean..."
Hearing these words made Rain smile brightly as she lowered her head. "Mmm… "
From that day, the two became even more comfortable with one another. Alex would read to Rain, and Rain would cuddle up into his embrace. As time continued on and when Rain became healthier and was finally able to move around, they began doing more things together, from going for walks to making trips to town.
Until finally, one fateful night, the two became one. Not long after, Rain sent a message to her father and sisters, and a wedding was held. The wedding was small and only consisted of them saying their rights that tied them together forever. She had wanted to wait for her mother to return, but she also did not wish to make Alex wait any longer.
Later that year, Faith was born. One of many children Rain would have. Rain was a doting and loving mother. She cared for each of her children and taught them everything she knew. Alex was also a very good father, a little too overprotective as he had beaten up a few boys who tried to court Faith and the girls as they got older.
But sadly, their happy family life was not meant to last long. Alex ended up getting sick with some kind of disease. No matter what he tried, he could not figure out what was wrong with him. Even Rain worked day and night reading through medical books, trying to find a cure to save her husband. "Mama, you need to sleep..." Faith Rain's oldest daughter once again caught her mother trying to pull an all-nighter."But I..." Rain's eyes were welling up with tears. She felt helpless. She couldn't figure out any way to save her husband, the man she fell in love with all those years ago. Faith walked over and hugged her mother and began to cry along with her. The other children were sound asleep, so it was just the two of them softly letting out their grief.
It was then that it happened. Rain was kneeling by the bedside, the same bed, the two of them, have slept on since they first met, holding Alex's hands in hers. Tears rolled down her cheeks as her husband's breathing began to slow. She felt his hand tighten around hers, causing her to look up at Alex.
His face was sunken in, and his complexion pale. He looked as if he had aged many years. He reached out with his hand that was now nothing but skin and bones and gently caressed Rain's face. "Don't cry..."
"How can I not!?" Rain asked, her voice raised as tears streamed down her face. "Alex, you are the love of my life, the father of our children. You're about to leave my life, our children's lives! If I can not cry, then what am I supposed to do with the sadness and grief!? I love you so much I do not want to lose you no matter what!"
"Rain..." Alex touched his chest and pulled out a small blue ghostly orb. "With this piece of my soul, I give to you so that I can be with you forever..."
Rain looked at Alex in disbelief. She did not even have time to react before the peace of his soul entered her body. It was not until the hand that was reaching out to her went limp and fell onto the bed that she realized Alex was gone: "Alex! Nooo! Alex please wake up! Please! Don't leave me!"
"Mama!" Hearing Rain's yell learted her kids who all piled into the room. All they saw was their mother hugging their father while crying tears filled with sadness. On this day Rain lost the one and only man she would ever come to love.
Seeing the two bickering in front of her made Rain remember those days with her husband. She softly mumbled to herself: "Alex, we will always be together forever..."
