"Kalypso is right. Ruthren wouldn't do anything that would get himself killed. But before we think about that, we have to first figure out what is causing this death blight to spread or how it even happened in the first place," Damien said as he tapped his fingers on his chin.

"If it weren't for the barrier, there is no way this could happen. As for how this happened, there has to be an origin point…A point where it all began. Maybe you should try searching for it," Luna advised.

"Searching for the origin point? How do I even….Oh…I get it. The origin point must be the area where this death aura must feel most dense. Nice suggestion, Luna," Damien said with a smile as he sprinted off to follow the direction in which the death aura was becoming stronger and stronger.

Luna let out a smug scoff as she said, "It's only natural such suggestions come from me."

"Hey, that's not true. I was going to say that as well," Kalypso said peevishly.

Damien found himself heading towards literally the center of the entire continent, and to his surprise, he was able to recognize the place even though it looked totally dark and rotten.

"The Shizar Kingdom…Nobody is here…" Damien mumbled as he remembered the Little King and his sister, Ai. Where did they and their people go? Did something bad happen to them, or were they able to evacuate in time?

Damien couldn't understand why the Little King never sent him some message or something about something so important. But then, knowing what kind of person that kid was, Damien knew that the Little King would never try to burden others just like his sister.

Still, looking at the previously elegant-looking palace now turned into a blackened marble junk made Damien sigh with pity. The beautiful gardens and lands filled with greenery were all gone. All that was left was the pungent smell and the horrid sight of everything decaying.

Even the air around him seemed so dark and murky to the point sunlight was barely passing through.

Damien could only hope the Little King and his people were safe and well. He entered the half-brokedown palace, and sped through its empty halls till he reached a large hole that Drake and his men had dug when they took camp here based on Ruthren's orders.

As expected, Drake didn't lie about its location, and Damien was able to spot an underground hole, though it would be an understatement to simply call it a hole. It was too large.

The entire cavity was located in a massive sized hall with damaged chandeliers hanging from the roof. Based on the elegant design on the walls or whatever was left of it, Damien could tell that this hall was a place for special guests to meet and talk.

But what made Damien frown was how thick the death aura was.

It was as if thousands of people had died here, and it was as if he could still feel their resentment, despair, and confusion?

It was as if he was getting affected by this, though he quickly used his soul energy to keep his mind steady and clear.

Damien had no idea why the death aura in this place was making him feel these things. It was not like thousands of people really died here? Or did they? That can't be…

Damien took a good look at the walls and spotted some decayed traces of blood splattered on the walls here and there. This definitely was a sign that at least a lot of people died here.

Damien was increasingly getting a bad feeling as he slowly approached the dark hole that looked like a pit of death.

Black thick veins were coming out of it and spreading in every direction, over the floor, up the walls, anyplace it could go. Overall, the entire sight seemed as if it came right out of a horror movie.

Upon closer look, it seemed like the veins were pulsating as if something was really flowing through them. Damien spread his senses to check it out, only to realize that nethereal energy was flowing through it!

But it wasn't pure like the nethereal energy flowing inside him. Instead, this one seemed quite claggy and felt unpleasant.

He stepped even closer to the pit, only to have his eyes widen he saw a large black egg hanging deep inside the pit, something breathing inside. The egg seemed even bigger than a full-grown adult and was suspended in the air because of all the black vines wrapped around it and attached to the walls.

"Shit…what the fuck is this??" Damien had to blink his eyes a few times to make sure he didn't imagine things. What kind of creature would have to be sitting inside such an ominous-looking egg?

The death aura was highly and most concentrated near the egg, and there was no doubt that whatever was growing inside that egg would be up to no good when it came out.

"Luna, Kalypso…are you two seeing this?" Damien asked with a confounded look.

"This is bad…really bad…I am only able to faintly remember things, but if I am right, this is a sacrificial pit," Kalypso said as she appeared outside with a strange look on her face.

"A sacrificial pit?"

"Yes…Killing a large number of people and using their death aura to nurture a creature of death. Sigh, if only I could regain my memories, I could have helped you out, even more, Master," Kalypso said with a sigh.

"It's fine, Kalypso. You are already a big help to me. But if you are right, and I think you are right, then somebody must have definitely killed at least thousands of people here, right?" Damien asked with wrinkled brows.

But suddenly, Damien noticed a subtle glimmering light on the floor and noticed it was a diamond-like ring.

"No…" Damien firmly pressed his lips together as he picked up the ring, and his expression fell since he recognized it as the ring the Little King used to wear.
